Naval Region 5: Bringing Sea and Island Information to over 6,000 people in Kien Giang

At the information session, the Rapporteur of Navy Region 5 of the Navy provided information about the sea and islands to more than 6,000 officials, party members, key officials of communes and towns, women officials, veterans, religious dignitaries, reputable people among ethnic minorities, teachers, students, youth union members, fishermen, owners of seafood exploitation vehicles and local people of 6 districts and cities under Kien Giang province.

The event's content focuses on the position, role, and importance of Vietnam's seas and islands for the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland; Legal basis and historical evidence affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos; Current situation of the country's seas; Viewpoints, policies and solutions of the Party and State in fighting and resolving maritime disputes; Typical victories of the Vietnam People's Navy in protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
The delegates were also informed by the Navy Region 5 rapporteur of Directive 45/CT-TTg dated December 13, 2017, of the Prime Minister on several urgent tasks and solutions to overcome the European Commission's warning on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing; Prohibited acts when exploiting seafood at sea; Regulations on administrative sanctions in fisheries; Cases of fishermen being prosecuted for violating laws and regulations when exploiting seafood at sea.

In addition to hearing propaganda about the sea and islands here, students are also advised and provided with more information about choosing educational majors; conditions, processes, and procedures for applying to the Vietnam Naval Academy; Policies to attract high-quality human resources to build a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern Navy.

Lam Van Sen, Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee, said: "Recently, the Propaganda Department of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee has coordinated with the Navy Region 5 Command to organize events to propaganda sea and island information, popularize the law and attract human resources to build the Navy. The events, held for tens of thousands of people in the province, took place in diverse, practical, and effective forms. Thereby, the events raised awareness and responsibility among people from all walks of life, especially the young generation, contributing to promoting synergy in defending, protecting sovereignty, and maintaining security, order, peace and stability in the Fatherland's seas and islands."

On this occasion, the Navy Region 5 Command and the Propaganda Department of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee distributed 200 sets of documents named "What to know when going to sea," 300 admission consultation leaflets; donated 1,000 national flags to fishermen, hamlet secretaries, and local veterans, along with many meaningful gifts for students.
