The Vietnam Denmark Association (VIDAFA) and the Embassy of Denmark in Hanoi, the two co-hosts of the "Denmark in Your Eyes 2020" contest jointly announced the names of the 21 winners of this year's contest at an award ceremony on Thursday's afternoon, November 12 in Hanoi.

This year, due to the Covid-19, the contest had to change from its normal painting contest format to an online test on the theme:" Learning about Denmark and Danish Vietnamese diplomatic relations". In addition to answering 20 multiple-choice questions about Denmark and the Danish Vietnamese friendship, contestants also had a chance to propose a topic for the next Denmark in Your Eyes contest in 2021 and to suggest a slogan for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Denmark and Vietnam in 2021.

As members of the panel of judges, both the President of VIDAFA - Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha and Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Kim Højlund Christensen were pleased to see the high interests and great knowledge about Denmark and the Vietnamese Danish long-term friendship shown by the contestants.

"Next year, Denmark and Vietnam will jointly celebrate our 50th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations. We, therefore, feel lucky and privileged to have received so many goal and inspiring suggestions from contestants for a slogan to celebrate this important occasion. These suggestions do not only reflect the long term good friendship between Denmark and Vietnamese but also boldly outline the bright future of the cooperation between our two countries. All these good ideas will be food in connection with our considerations for next year's celebration." said Ambassador of Denmark Kim Højlund Christensen at the award event.

Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Le Cong Thanh said: The contest was successfully organized thanks to the great contribution and support of the Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Kim Højlund Christensen, the President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Nguyen Phuong Nga and Vietnam Denmark Friendship Association. The event held on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Denmark is also an opportunity for VIDAFA to send best wishes to the Danish Government and people, as well as wish Vietnam Denmark relations constant growth.

Speaking at the ceremony, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Nguyen Phuong Nga also expressed her delight at the achievements of the Vietnam-Denmark friendship relations. President Nga highly appreciated VIDAFA's activities creating useful playgrounds for students all over the country have contributed to spreading good messages interested by both countries in environmental protection, listening to and respecting children's wishes, building a greener, cleaner and more beautiful country for us and future generations ...

The VUFO President emphasized: In the context of many great challenges faced by the world in general, Vietnam in particular, including the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and friendship Associations, Vietnam Denmark Friendship Association has made a very flexible and timely transition for its form of activities to be changed from direct to online, taking advantages of its strength to attract more and more people's participation in the Association's activities.

The contest made a deep impression through the enthusiastic response and participation of students nationwide with a total of nearly 16,000 submissions. This also shows their deep understanding of the country and people of Denmark, and students' knowledge about issues faced by the the current world such as climate change, environmental pollution, epidemics, water security... Especially, through the contest, they also have more useful knowledge, love for Denmark - a comprehensive partner, a close friend of the Vietnamese people.

The delegates also expressed their belief and expectation that this contest would continue to be held successfully, making a practical contribution to the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic establishment between Vietnam and Denmark in 2021, at the same time promoting the active and creative participation of students in people-to-people relation's activities.
