Supporting Vietnamese Women Entrepreneurs in Cyberspace
The handbook launching event was part of the seminar "Digital journey for women-owned enterprises," hosted by the United Nations Agency for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women (UN Women) and the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Council.
Attending the event were about 80 delegates from ministries, agencies, international organizations, associations. Many of them are digital transformation experts and businesswomen, female directors of social organizations in Hanoi city and some neighboring provinces. The seminar's main discussion is about improving women leaders' capacity to use digital information and data effectively and safely in cyberspace.

Speaking at the event, Le Quang Minh, Vice President of The Institute of Information Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), stressed that the "Cybersecurity Handbook for Women Leaders" provides not only knowledge on information security and cyber security on the internet environment but also useful guides on how to recognize the risk of being hacked, as well as the course of measures to take in the event of a cyber attack.

Today, while networking and information technology are important factors promoting the development of a business, this environment also brings enormous risks of cyberattacks. There are more and more sophisticated and organized kinds of attacks targeting businesses and large corporations, also individual users' cybersecurity awareness in Vietnam is still very limited. Many companies still only apply traditional network information security solutions, and technology is not updated. Only when attacked, do they hire human resources to temporarily solve the problem.

According to many studies, women are often at greater risk when participating in internet use. Compared to men in their peers, they have fewer chances to participate in training, exchange, networking, or activities related to technology and digital transformation, especially for women in remote and isolated areas, those with disabilities, and elders.
Since the handbook's scope of use and reach is very wide, it can equip Vietnamese women leaders with the necessary knowledge, expertise, and resources, as addressed in the handbook. As a result, it will increase resilience and vigilance in the nation's digital infrastructure, where female leaders play a crucial role.
