This event is part of a series celebrating the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sweden and Vietnam (1969-2024).
Speaking at the event, Swedish Ambassador Johan Ndisi highlighted that Sweden is a world leader in traffic safety. He mentioned Vision Zero, an initiative aimed at eliminating deaths and serious injuries in traffic, which has produced significant results by turning policies into concrete actions. The program focuses on designing safe traffic systems to protect people, ensuring that incidents do not lead to fatal consequences.
In Vietnam, where motorbikes are the primary mode of transport, wearing a helmet is crucial for protecting traffic participants. By distributing helmets to students, the Embassy of Sweden aims to raise awareness and increase the proper use of helmets according to standards in Vietnam. Sweden is committed to supporting Vietnam in its efforts to reduce traffic accidents and ensure the safety of its people, especially children.

Dang Thi Tra, Vice Principal of Nam Trung Yen Primary School, shared that the students were thrilled to receive gifts from the Swedish Embassy and to meet international guests. The helmets given by the Embassy will be a lasting memory and help instill the habit of always wearing proper helmets while participating in traffic.
Following the program, the school will continue to teach students traffic safety skills through curriculum activities. Dang Thi Tra expressed hope that teachers and parents will support the school in encouraging and reminding students to always wear helmets when riding motorbikes and electric bicycles, ensuring their safety and contributing to a safer society.
