Switzerland Sends Experts to Help Vietnam Recover from Yagi Aftermath

On September 14, in Hanoi, the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) held a meeting with the Swiss Embassy in Vietnam.
In the meeting, Pham Duc Luan, the Department Director, updated the Swiss delegates on the effects of Storm No. 3. He outlined the storm's path and the consequent flooding that inflicted considerable harm on individuals and infrastructure across the northern provinces and cities.
Thomas Gass, Ambassador of Switzerland to Vietnam, expressed condolences for the loss of people and property that Vietnam is suffering, Switzerland is ready to stand side by side with Vietnam in terms of human resources and materials.
In terms of human resources, Switzerland sent a delegation of about 8 experienced experts in clean water, sanitation, and safe houses to conduct surveys and in-depth research on the province's needs. The delegation will make recommendations on appropriate reconstruction plans. They are expected to survey Yen Bai next week.

Regarding material aid, Switzerland has dispatched a relief consignment to Vietnam with a total weight of 25,789 kg and an approximate value of 361,140 Swiss Francs (CHF). The shipment is scheduled to arrive at Noi Bai International Airport at 4:35 a.m. on Monday (September 16). The cargo comprises equipment, safe home systems, and clean water and sanitation supplies, and may include experts to assist in the installation of this equipment in the affected areas.
Additionally, during the meeting, both parties discussed the prevailing conditions in Vietnam and the resources Switzerland can provide to support Vietnam, in both current and future rebuilding efforts.
