VN imported 20,000 pigs from Thailand for swine fever-hit herd rebuilding and record piglet price reduce

Viet Nam will import 20,000 breeding pigs from Thailand this year, as the country is seeking to rebuild its hog herd battered by an African swine-fever outbreak. Over the next four years, the industry is expected to import over 100,000 breeding pigs to repopulate the country's pig herd following the ASF outbreaks.

Vietnam pork imports surge 300% since the start of the year

According to the Department of Animal Health (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), as of April 13, Vietnam imported more than 46,402 tons of pork and pork products, an increase of more than 300% over the same period last year 2019.
