In the upcoming program in Hanoi, Rainer Honeck and the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Honna Tetsuji, will perform the works “Verklärte Nacht” Op.4 (A.Schonberg), “Violin Concerto Vietnam Premiere” (to the memory of an angel) and Concerto violin “Memory of an Angel” (Alban Berg), and “The Blue Danube” (Strauss II).
In particular, this is the first time the Violin Concerto "Memories of an Angel" will be performed in Vietnam. The work was written by Alban Berg in 1935 for Manon Gropius - daughter of Alma Mahler (widow of composer Gustav Mahler) - when she passed away early from polio. This is perhaps Alban Berg's most famous and most frequently performed work.
