The Vietnamese Association Office in Jeonbuk Launches in South Korea

The special ceremony was held on April 1, with the presence of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Le Thi Thu Hang.

In her remarks, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang said that the Party and State always consider the overseas Vietnamese community to be an integral part of the Vietnamese people; and have policies to care for and support people to stabilize and integrate well into the host society.

The Party and State also encourage and create conditions for people to return to their homeland and contribute to the country. In particular, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese plays an important role, being the "base" and the core force in implementing the Party and State's guidelines and policies in mobilizing and supporting overseas Vietnamese.

Hang highly appreciated and praised the community's efforts in local integration and development and contributions to the homeland. She believes that Vietnamese Associations in South Korea will always unite, and grow more towards their roots.

Hang emphasized that the Vietnamese Association in Jeonbuk opens its office, with a typical Vietnamese space, is not simply a headquarters, but also a common home. It is a meeting and gathering place for people in this area.

She highly appreciated the Vietnamese classes held by the Vietnamese Association in Jeonbuk. The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese will continue to support the curriculum and organize training courses to improve pedagogical skills for volunteer teachers to support the language program.

The Deputy Minister provided many suggestions for the Association's activities in the coming time. It should continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, play a core role in gathering people, and preserve the Vietnamese language and culture in the community. It should focus on perfecting the organizational apparatus and organizing many practical activities to connect people.

Also, it should respond to and participate in activities organized by the State Committee on Human Resources and the Embassy for the community in South Korea. It will help every overseas Vietnamese to further promote their role as a cultural messenger, an effective bridge contributing to the development of Vietnam-Korea friendly relations.

In response, the Chairman of the Vietnamese Association at Jeonbuk Ung Dieu Linh and the Chairman of the Vietnamese Association at Jeonnam Gwangju Nguyen Viet Phong thanked the Party and State for the care, the supporting that created good conditions for the Vietnamese community in South Korea to thrive and to contribute to their homeland. The Associations will continue to support each other, and integrate into the host society, and build a good image of Vietnamese people in South Korea.

The Vietnamese community in Jeonbuk province is about 15,000 people, mainly students, workers, and women in Vietnamese-Korean marriages.
