Cruise ship Celebrity Solstice docked at Chan May Port in Thua Thien – Hue Province on January 7, carrying 2,700 tourists, NDO reported.

The Department of Tourism of Thua Thien Hue Province collaborated with Chan May Port Company and Saigontourist Travel Service Company to welcome the cruise ship carrying 2,700 passengers from the United Kingdom, France, the United States and so on.

This was one of the activities to celebrate the New Year and launch a series of events and tourism activities in Thua Thien Hue province in 2024. At the same time, it creates an impression on visitors of an attractive, safe, friendly and hospitable destination; continue to strengthen communication to promote Thua Thien Hue tourism destinations, products and services to attract tourists, especially cruise tourists.

At the welcoming program, leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, Department of Tourism, Tourism Association, Chan May Port Joint Stock Company, Saigontourist Travel Services Company Limited and representatives of related agencies, departments and branches, warmly welcomed, gave flowers and gifts of Hue specialties to the first visitors to Thua Thien Hue province by sea.

Leaders of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province presented special gifts to the captain and sailors. In addition, tourists also enjoyed joyful and bustling art performances to welcome the new year 2024 prepared by the Tourism Department.

Passengers from the cruise ship started their journeys to visit the famous monuments and landscapes of Hue, Da Nang and Quang Nam. This was the first cruise ship berthing at Chan May Port in 2024.

More than 1,400 tourists attended tours to visit tourism sites in Thua Thien – Hue, Da Nang, and Quang Nam.

Chan May Port received 25 cruise ships with around 50,000 visitors and crew members in 2023. About 32 cruise ships, with nearly 60,000 tourists and 22,000 crew members, have registered to dock at Chan May Port in 2024.

Last year, the province welcomed 3.2 million visitors, up 56% compared to 2022, including 1.2 million foreign visitors, a sharp increase of 361% compared to 2022. The province posted total revenue of VND 6.6 trillion (USD 270.94 million) from tourism activities in 2023.

In 2023, Thua Thien – Hue Province saw the largest number of visitors from Taiwan (China), Thailand, the US, Malaysia, France, the UK, Australia, Germany, Spain, and the Republic of Korea.
