US$1.6 billion Semiconductor Factory Inaugurated in Bac Ninh
The Amkor Group inaugurated the Amkor Technology Vietnam Factory (ATV) on October 11 in Yen Phong 2C Industrial Park. Comrade Vuong Dinh Hue, Politburo member and Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly sent a congratulatory flower basket.
The factory inauguration ceremony was attended by Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang.
With a total investment capital of US$1.6 billion, of which phase one is US$520 million, Amkor Technology’s factory has been one of the largest semiconductor manufacturing factories in Vietnam. In its initial phase, the factory will focus on providing advanced system-in-package (SiP) assembly and testing solutions to the world's leading electronics and semiconductor manufacturing companies.

Susan Y. Kim, Vice President of Amkor Global Group, praised the Vietnamese Government and Bac Ninh province for their attention, assistance, and favorable conditions that allowed the factory to be built on time. The development of the Amkor factory in Bac Ninh is part of the Group's strategic business strategy.
Susan Y. Kim also emphasized her belief that Amkor Bac Ninh would become a key base, a pillar in the operation and development network of the Amkor Group's long-term growth in the semiconductor area globally, as well as facilitating the construction and development of the semiconductor ecosystem in Vietnam.
Standing Vice Chairman of Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan affirmed that the inauguration and operation of the factory for manufacturing, assembling, and testing semiconductor materials and equipment is an important milestone for Bac Ninh province in establishing Bac Ninh province's place on the global semiconductor component production map.

"This is a new driving force in the development of the Bac Ninh province's high-tech industry in the coming years, creating a spillover effect to attract other large investors from around the world. Simultaneously, it is required that the company strictly implements the provisions of Vietnamese law, builds corporate culture, actively takes care of workers' lives, and accompanies the local development process," added Tuan.
In addition, it is necessary that the company continue to research and implement the investment in the factory's phases two and three, create conditions for enterprises in Bac Ninh province and Vietnam to learn about, cooperate in investment, and participate in the global semiconductor chip production chain, thereby establishing Bac Ninh as one of the world's new semiconductor chip production bases.
