On January 14, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam received the J/TIP delegation. The host held a roundtable discussion with J/TIP, and representatives from the US Embassy in Vietnam.
Other participants are from relevant Vietnamese authorities such as agencies under the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Supreme People's Procuracy, the Supreme People's Court and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The outstanding results of human trafficking prevention and combat in Vietnam were discussed, namely investigation, prosecution and trial of human trafficking crimes, identify trafficking victims, including those received through border gates and returning from online fraudulent establishments, statistics collection on human trafficking prevention and combat. Other aspects mentioned at the discussion are the law on prevention and combat of human trafficking, communication, capacity building and international cooperation.
In the future, Vietnam hopes that the two sides will continue to maintain exchanges, dialogue and close cooperation in the spirit of the US-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The J/TIP representative highly appreciated Vietnam's efforts to investigate, prosecute and adjudicate human trafficking crimes, adopt the Law on Prevention and Combat of Human Trafficking in 2024, and rescue and repatriate Vietnamese citizens from online fraudulent establishments. He believed that Vietnam is the region’s leading country in promoting the struggle and preventing human trafficking crimes that use technology to coerce the implementation of illegal acts.
Also, J/TIP Deputy Director Jonathan Turley affirmed that it will closely communicate with the Vietnamese side so that the assessments of the TIP Report are truly objective and comprehensive. It committed to continue supporting Vietnam, especially in the field of capacity building and cooperation in preventing human trafficking by online fraud. It suggests that Vietnam continue to strengthen the information system and data on human trafficking prevention and combat, ensure the separation of specific criteria, promote screening and identification of trafficking victims and prevent forced labor and labor exploitation in the supply chain.

During the brief visit, Director of the Consular Department of Vietnam Doan Hoang Minh also received the J/TIP delegation. Held on January 13, the meeting discussed some issues of mutual interest, aiming to effectively implement the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2025, when the two countries celebrate the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.
