President Hun Sen warmly welcomed Chairman Tran Thanh Man on his first official visit to Cambodia as the top Vietnamese legislator. He also recognized Man’s role as a representative of Vietnam’s Party and State in attending two major international conferences hosted by Cambodia. He also emphasized the significance of this visit in advancing bilateral and multilateral relations and strengthening cooperation between the two countries' legislatures.
Tran Thanh Man extended his congratulations to Cambodia for successfully hosting the 12th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP 12), which highlights Cambodia’s growing regional and international stature, particularly that of the CPP. He expressed sincere gratitude for the warm reception extended by President Hun Sen, Cambodian leaders, and the Cambodian people to the Vietnamese delegation.
He congratulated the Cambodian people on their significant and proud achievements under the sound reign of King Norodom Sihamoni and the leadership of the CPP, the Senate, the National Assembly, and the Government of Cambodia, with President Hun Sen playing a crucial role. He commended the CPP on its resounding victory in the recent elections, reflecting the overwhelming trust and support of the people. He expressed his belief that under the CPP leadership, Cambodia will continue to obtain even greater achievements in its national construction cause.
The top Vietnamese legislator said that Vietnam and Cambodia are neighboring countries with both ruling parties sharing a common origin from the Indochinese Communist Party. Throughout history, they stood side by side to fight common enemies for their national liberation and reunification in the past. This solidarity continues today in their collaborative efforts in national construction and defense.
History has proven that the bond of solidarity, cooperation, and mutual support is an objective requirement, a vital rule, and a key factor for each country’s security and development, he said.
President Hun Sen affirmed that Cambodia would never forget the wholehearted assistance provided by Vietnam in the past and at present. Amid common challenges facing the region and the world, the two countries must strengthen their bond and cooperate even more closely across politics, economy, trade, national defense, and security.
Hun Sen proposed that both sides continue to optimize existing cooperation mechanisms and enhance trilateral solidarity and collaboration among Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam through innovative and effective measures.
He praised Vietnam’s development achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and expressed confidence in Vietnam’s ability to fulfill its national development goals, especially on the occasion of the CPV's 100th anniversary and the 100th founding anniversary of the nation.
During the meeting, both leaders expressed satisfaction with the positive outcomes of bilateral legislative cooperation, which builds on the historical solidarity and mutual support between the two countries' Parties and States.
Chairman Tran Thanh Man presented proposals to enhance cooperation, including maintaining high-level exchanges and dialogue mechanisms between the Parties and States of Vietnam and Cambodia. He reiterated Vietnam's support for Cambodia's peaceful, secure, and stable development, seeing it as mutually beneficial for both nations.
In response, Hun Sen agreed with Man's proposal to adhere firmly to the principle of not allowing any political or military forces to use their territory to undermine the other country. He emphasized the need to effectively realize the signed agreements, combat hostile forces, and transnational and cross-border crimes, safeguard national security, and prevent the spread of fake information and the use of social media to incite falsehoods that could harm the relationship between the two Parties and countries.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese NA Chairman expressed gratitude for Cambodia’s continued support for the Vietnamese community living and working in Cambodia. He appreciated the material, spiritual, and legal assistance provided by the Cambodian government, which has helped ensure stability for Vietnamese expatriates.
He also called for innovative and diversified communication efforts to educate citizens, especially the youth of both countries, about the enduring solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.
