Vietnam Assists Friends In Need Amidst This Trying Situation

Vietnam assists international friends with Covid-19 response again.

Hanoi has presented USD 20,000 to Luang Prabang province of Laos to help with the Lao northern province’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. Vietnamese Consul General in Luang Prabang Nguyen Dang Hung handed over the money to Luang Prabang’s governor Khamkhan Chanthavisouk on Oct. 5, reported VNA.

The Vietnamese diplomat said Hanoi itself is focusing all resources on pandemic control, but at the same time, it wishes to help the Lao province in the spirit of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations.

Governor Khamkhan Chanthavisouk expressed deep thanks to Hanoi for the gift, adding that he hopes to receive more support and experience sharing from Vietnam in the combat against the Covid-19.

He also wished the ties between Luang Prabang and Hanoi will further strengthen.The Vietnamese Consulate General in Luang Prabang will continue to deliver presents from Hanoi to seven other northern Lao provinces in the days ahead, the diplomat stressed.

2022 will be the "Year of Solidarity and Friendship between Vietnam and Laos", the two countries will organize various meaningful activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations (Sep. 5, 1962) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation (July 18, 1977) which will further reinforce trust and bolster cooperation between people from all social strata, especially the youth.

The Consulate General donates USD 1,000 to contribute to renovate and upgrad Vietnamese and Khmer language classrooms.

The Consulate General of Vietnam in Cambodia's Preah Sihanouk province led by Consul General Vu Ngoc Ly had a meeting with the Executive Committee of the Khmer-Vietnam Association in Koh Kong province and presented 1,000 USD to contribute to the completion of the project renovating and upgrading Vietnamese and Khmer language classrooms in Pakhlon commune, Mondul Seyma district, where many people of Vietnamese origin live.

According to Nguyen Nhi Anh, chairman of the Khmer-Vietnamese Association of Koh Kong province, the project was carried out on the basis of an old degraded classroom with a total area of ​​40 m2.

The project includes classrooms, teachers' rooms and self-contained toilets. Currently, the project has completed 90% of the items. The Executive Committee is working hard to get the project to launch soon at the same time that Cambodia's public schools reopen.

This is one of two Vietnamese/Khmer language classes for the Vietnamese community in Koh Kong province.

Previously, on Oct. 4, Consul General Vu Ngoc Ly and the Vietnamese Consulate General's Delegation in Preah Sihanouk province had a meeting with Mithona Phouthang, Governor of Koh Kong province.

At the meeting, the governor highly appreciated the development of the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, and thanked for the good feelings that generations of Vietnamese Consulate Generals have given them. for the government and people of Koh Kong province for many years.

She emphasized that the fact that the Consulate General regularly organizes delegations to visit each other, attend each other's traditional national holidays, send congratulatory letters to each other on important occasions, has contributed to strengthening and deepening the relations between the two countries; as well as close cooperation between Vietnam and the government and people of Koh Kong.

Also on this occasion, the Consul General presented the Koh Kong provincial government with 10,000 masks to support the local people in Covid-19 fight, which from the community support fund of the embassy.
