The event was organized by the Embassy of Bangladesh in Vietnam on June 9. In her remarks, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Vietnam Samina Naz recalled the history of this country's struggle for freedom.

"After independence, Bangladesh, with its investment promotion policies, large domestic market, strategically important geopolitical position, political stability, and skilled and hard labor, has become one of the fast-growing economies in the world and becoming a middle-income country, the people are extremely satisfied," stressed Ambassador Samina Naz.

She also expressed her respect for the Government and people of Vietnam who have always supported Bangladesh for the past 50 years.

"The two countries have always supported each other in the struggle for national liberation. Since February 11, 1973, we have enjoyed 50 years of friendly bilateral relations. We would like to express our gratitude and pay respects to the old Father of the Bangladeshi Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the great Leader of Vietnam, President Ho Chi Minh. Both cherished the dream of freedom for the people and devoted their whole lives to fulfilling that dream," said Ambassador Samina Naz.

In the coming time, the Government of Bangladesh also hopes that the two countries can promote their great potential for cooperation and development, especially in the fields of socio-economic development, trade and investment, and human resource development. There is a need for more diplomatic exchanges on tourism, and climate, migration, human rights issues... between the two countries.

In his speech, Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet said that Bangladesh has built an important position in the Indo-Thailand region and the world.

For example, the country has become the world's second-largest garment exporter and the world's leader in the green garment industry. Bangladesh is also a prestigious member of the United Nations, has been elected to the Human Rights Council for the term 2023-2025, and is one of the leading contributors to UN peacekeeping operations.

According to Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet, these achievements are the fruit of the hard work of the people, with the wisdom and vision of generations of Bangladeshi leaders.

"The sharing of a common vision and aspiration for independence, freedom, peace, and prosperity is a solid foundation for the 50-year relationship between two sides. Vietnam and Bangladesh have doubled their trade turnover in less than 10 years, reaching more than US$ 1.6 million by 2022. I believe we have a lot of room left to further develop our relations," said the Vietnamese diplomat.

Viet added that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh will realize Vision 2041, soon surpassing the target of US $2 billion USD in two-way trade between the two countries. Two sides agree that in the future, more investors from Vietnam will come to invest in Bangladesh. In a show of good faith, Vietnam welcomes more Bangladeshi tourists and businessmen to the S-Shaped Land.
