Vietnam recorded 49 new cases of COVID-19 in localities and four imported cases in the past 12 hours to 6 pm February 13, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control. Among the community cases, 47 were found in Hai Duong and two in Ho Chi Minh City. The four imported cases were quarantined immediately after arrival in Ho Chi Minh City.
No cases were found on the morning of February 14. The national count had reached 2,149, with 1,297 locally-transmitted cases, including 604 linked to the latest outbreak since January 27.
According to the Committee’s Treatment Sub-Committee, the total number of recoveries is 1,531. The death toll remains at 35. Among patients under treatment, 39 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 once, 12 twice and nine thrice. As many as 129,098 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or entered Vietnam from pandemic-hit regions are being quarantined across the country.

On the afternoon of February 13, at the meeting of the Steering Committee for the prevention and control of diseases COVID - 19 Hanoi City, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hanoi Chu Xuan Dung suggested districts obey the city's direction to suspend all festival activities and stop welcome guests until the full moon of January to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Vice-Chairman of the People's Committee emphasized that My Duc district stop festival activities at the Huong Pagoda festival. The leader of My Duc district said that, following the city's instructions, the Huong Pagoda Festival Steering Committee officially announced to stop all activities of the Huong Pagoda festival and not welcome guests to the festival.
According to Mr. Nguyen Khac Hien, Hanoi is controlling well the pandemic. But the number of people pouring into public areas such as communal houses, pedestrian streets, cafes on sidewalks is quite large. Around the Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian street, there are still ones not wearing a mask. Concluding the meeting, in addition to the request of localities to stop festival activities, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Chu Xuan Dung suggested departments and localities continue to take measures to proactively prevent and control COVID- 19; increased inspection and fining of 15 acts of violation of pandemic prevention regulations.

On the afternoon of February 13, Hanoi People's Committee Vice Chairman Chu Xuan Dung chaired an online meeting with units on Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control. Hanoi's leaders asked localities to set up 10,000 community monitoring teams to manage labor returning to the capital after Tet, ensuring everyone had to make medical reports.
Regarding the Covid-19 screening test, Deputy Director of the Department of Health Hoang Duc Hanh announced the good news when more than 12,000 test samples of the staff at Noi Bai airport showed negative results.
However, the deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Health said that though the pandemic can be well controlled, people show subjective signs. Therefore, even in the new year, the city must still strictly handle violations. Dung also stressed that Hanoi still faces high risks of pandemic outbreaks. City leaders requested units to raise their vigilance and strictly fine violations of pandemic prevention regulations.
