Vietnam-Dominicana Friendship Organization to be Established

Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Dominican Republic to Vietnam Jaime Francisco Rodríguez, who paid a courtesy visit in Hanoi on March 17.
The Dominican ambassador sent profound thanks from the country's president and leaders for the sentiment that Vietnam has for the Dominican Republic. During his recent visit to Vietnam, Miguel Mejia - General Secretary of the Dominican Republic's United Left Movement and Minister of Regional Integration Policies of the Dominican Republic was warmly welcomed by Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga.
Ambassador Jaime Francisco Rodríguez said 2022 was an important milestone in Vietnam-Dominican relations, marked by the establishment of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic to Vietnam. The close relations between Vietnam and Dominicana have been built and developed by the ministries, departments, and people of the two countries since the 20th century. Similar to the Vietnamese people, the Dominican remember President Ho Chi Minh with love and respect.

The fact that the Ho Chi Minh monument was built in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, shows the Dominican people's admiration for President Ho Chi Minh and his revolutionary cause. In Hanoi, the statue of Juan Bosch - professor, writer, politician, first President of the Dominican Republic is located at Peace Park - a symbol of peace and friendship.
Ambassador Jaime Francisco Rodríguez appreciated VUFO's attendance at the flower offering ceremony at the Juan Bosch statue earlier on the same day.
The Ambassador of the Dominican Republic said that besides economics and politics, cooperation in education and society should be promoted. The Ambassador said one of the focuses of its first term was to promote the establishment of the Vietnam-Dominican Parliamentary Friendship Group, the Business Association, and the Vietnam-Dominica Friendship Association.
On this occasion, on behalf of Dominican leaders, Rodríguez invited Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga to visit the country. and attend the opening ceremony of the embassy, which was scheduled for July 2022.

VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga congratulated the Dominican Ambassador on his new position in Vietnam, believing he would have a successful term.
Through Rodríguez, Nga sent her best wishes to Dominican leaders and Miguel Mejia personally.
VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga confirmed that Vietnam attached great importance to developing relations with Dominicana - a country with a rapidly growing economy and an important role in Latin America and the Non-Aligned Movement. Vietnam and Dominicana share solidarity and friendship, especially in separated national liberation and development causes.

As a core force in people-to-people diplomacy - one of the three pillars of Vietnam's diplomacy, VUFO is committed to cooperating with the embassy of the Dominican Republic to Vietnam to hold people-to-people exchanges such as seminars, cultural and art activities, and the commemoration of important events of the two countries.
The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation, share information and experiences in post-pandemic socio-economic recovery to boost the good friendship and exploit the potential of each side towards the realization of sustainable development goals.
The VUFO and the Dominican Embassy will cooperate in establishing friendship associations between the two peoples, which is expected to officially launch on the two countries' 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations (2005-2025).
