Vietnam donates over USD 8.400 to help Russia fight against COVID-19

Participating in the meeting with Russian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Popov Aleksey Vladimirovich were Vuong Duc Hoang Quan - HUFO Chairman, Tran Hoang Khanh Van - HUFO Deputy Chairwoman, and representatives from the executive committee of the city's Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association.
In the meeting, the two sides discussed and highlighted a number of important events in recent time and provided information on the achievements in fighting the COVID-19 epidemic. On this occasion, the leaders of HUFO and the city's Vietnam - Russia Friendship Associationalso offered the Consulate-General of Russia in Ho Chi Minh City over VND 195 million (USD 8.400) to assist the Russian people in the fight against COVID-19.
For his part, the Consul-General of Russia in Ho Chi Minh City expressed his joy at the accomplishments the two countries had achieved and emphasized his effort to preserve such achievements. He wished the relations between Vietnam and Russia would develop in all aspects.
He also expressed the gratitude of the Russian people to the HUFO, the city's Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association, the donors for their generous donation to help his country to tackle the pandemic, adding that their support and donation have further demonstrated the spirit of solidarity and enhanced the bond of strategic partnership that based on the solid foundation of the bilateral solidarity for many decades.
The HUFO will continue to co-ordinate efforts alongside relevant agencies to provide financial support and donate medical supplies and equipment in the near future to the diplomatic missions, international communities living, working, and studying in the city to help them overcome COVID-19 challenges.
This is not the first time that the HUFO and its friendship associations have channeled contributions for COVID-19 fight both inside and outside Vietnam.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, many friendship associations under the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations have shown solidarity with international friends in combating COVID-19, by mobilizing funds from individials and businesses in Vietnam to purchase medical supplies as well as raising cash donations.
The aid illustrates Vietnam’s continued willingness to assist other countries on a bilateral and multilateral basis to the best of its abilities even as it continues to remain cautious about managing its own coronavirus challenge at home.
