How do you assess the historical and cultural ties between Vietnam and India, and how do these connections enhance relations between the two peoples?
India and Vietnam share a common heritage of courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to justice. From the struggles against colonialism and imperialism to persistent efforts in building societies founded on peace, equality, and prosperity, the journeys of both countries are intertwined with solidarity and mutual respect.

The great struggle for national liberation of the Vietnamese people, under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh, inspired millions worldwide, including the Indian people. India has always been a friend of Vietnam, demonstrating solidarity and support for Vietnam’s endeavors to achieve sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and peace.
During Vietnam’s just struggle for national independence, the rallying cry of the Indian people was, “Tomar Nam, Amar Nam, Vietnam, Vietnam” (Your name, my name, our name—Vietnam! Vietnam!). This slogan became a symbol of India’s unwavering support for Vietnam.
The foundation of Vietnam-India relations was laid by President Ho Chi Minh and Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who shared a vision of a just world. Their aspirations continue to inspire us today.

Although both our countries boast ancient civilizations, our friendship remains ever-youthful. The teachings of Lord Buddha, the resilience of farmers, artisans, and workers in both countries, along with humility, compassion, and collective strength, have brought us closer together.
What significance does the 12th Vietnam-India People’s Friendship Festival hold in promoting the friendship and cooperation between the two peoples?
We are deeply honored to participate in the 12th Vietnam-India People’s Friendship Festival. Building on the success of the 11 previous festivals, this event marks a significant step forward in strengthening the friendship between the two peoples across various domains.

Our delegation arrived in Vietnam on December 16 and had the opportunity to visit several iconic sites in Hanoi, Vinh Phuc, and Ho Chi Minh City. We also met with the President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) to discuss ways to further deepen bilateral relations.
The festival stands as a testament to the vibrant relations between our two countries. Our delegation comprises representatives from various Indian states, each with unique cultural traditions, languages, and customs.
Cultural exchanges play a crucial role in bringing our peoples closer. The Vietnamese deeply appreciate Indian folk dances and traditional music, while Indian audiences cherish opportunities to experience Vietnamese art performances. Vietnam’s traditional songs and dances allow us to explore the rich diversity of your cultural heritage.

Which areas should Vietnam and India focus on for closer cooperation in the future?
Tourism is a promising area for collaboration. The Vietnamese government has eased visa regulations for Indian tourists. Vietnam offers numerous attractive destinations, including Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and many other cultural and historical sites. Indian visitors not only explore Vietnam’s scenic beauty but also learn about its history.
India also offers vast opportunities for cooperation in fields such as information technology, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and higher education. Our universities can provide Vietnamese students with access to quality education at reasonable costs, particularly in engineering and sciences.
The number of Indian tourists visiting Vietnam is steadily increasing, and Vietnamese entrepreneurs are visiting India more frequently to explore collaboration opportunities. Direct flights operated by Vietnam Airlines and Indian airlines have bridged the distance between our countries. Additionally, cultural exchange events play a pivotal role in strengthening relations, enabling our people to appreciate and experience each other’s rich heritage.
Could you elaborate on the importance of collaboration between the youth of Vietnam and India in fostering and advancing bilateral relations?
India aspires to become a developed nation by 2047, while Vietnam aims for the same by 2045. This presents a great opportunity for both nations to strengthen cooperation and achieve mutual progress. With a population of 1.43 billion in India and a relatively high population density in Vietnam, the two countries can work together to promote sustainable development and address global challenges such as climate change.

However, both nations face similar challenges, including poverty, unemployment, and the need to improve education quality. In this context, the younger generation must take a leading role in addressing these issues through collaboration and innovation.
I firmly believe that with joint efforts from governments, organizations, and people, we can overcome these challenges and build a bright future for future generations.
