Vietnam - Iran Celebrate 50 years of Diplomatic Relations
The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Iran Friendship Association cooperated with the Embassy of Iran to Vietnam to organize the event.
Presented at the ceremony were Ambassador Ha Kim Ngoc - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Le Anh Tuan - Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga - President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Nguyen Van Pha - former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Judicial Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam - Iran Friendship Association, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Vietnam Ali Akbar Nazari and his spouse, staff of the Iranian Embassy in Vietnam; Ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, Iranian and Vietnamese friends.

At the celebration, the delegates reviewed important milestones in the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Iran.
According to Ha Kim Ngoc, the aged old cultural interaction and the exchanges in the past 50 years have laid an important foundation for the current development of the bilateral relationship between the two countries. Sharing many similarities and complementary advantages, Vietnam and Iran are in a good position to develop our friendship and cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples as well as puppies and stability in the two regions and around the world.
The political and diplomatic relations between the two countries have witnessed positive development in all channels including State diplomacy, Parliamentary diplomacy, and People-to-people diplomacy. Bilateral economics and trade has also been continuously promoted and achieved encouraging results. In addition, the cooperation between the two countries in other fields such as culture education science, and technology has witnessed positive signals. Despite our own difficulty during the Covid-19 pandemic, the government and people of Vietnam are happy and ready to share the meager resources we have with other countries, including Iran.
These realistic activities serve as bricks that help build a solid foundation for the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries, he said.
There remains ample room for the development of bilateral relations. Two governments and their authorities and agencies should make greater efforts to implement effectively and substantively our commitment to bringing cooperation between the two countries into depth. To turn the political determination of the leaders of the two countries into reality, we should urgently coordinate in organizing the 10th meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic and Commercial Cooperation and the 7th Political Consultation.
In just a few days' time, the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Vuong Dinh Hue will pay an official visit to Iran, which is of great significance as it opens up a new stage for the corporation in the two countries' bilateral ties .

According to the Chairman of the Vietnam - Iran Friendship Association Nguyen Van Pha, the contact between the two people dated back to more than 1000 years ago when Persian merchants came to the business and trade in Vietnam, paving the way for cultural change between our two peoples Acculturation and similarity in history, together with the desire for peace, national independence and the building of a prosperous and happy country are catalysts and important foundation for the people of Vietnam and Iran to become more attached to each other.
In 2009, the Vietnam - Iran Friendship Association and Iran - Vietnam Friendship Association were established in respective countries. They have made many positive contributions to consolidating and developing the friendship and cooperation between the two countries through activities such as people-to-people exchange programs, exchanges, bridges for economic cooperation, historical conferences and seminars to introduce culture, traditions, customs, the current socio-development situation of each country.
Succeeding the achievements achieved over the past years, the Friendship Association of the two countries will continue to renew, diversify and improve the efficiency of their activities with more exchange programs of the younger generation and students in order to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Iran.

Speaking at the celebration, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Vietnam Ali Akbar Nazari said: Over the past 50 years, Iran and Vietnam have built strong multi-faceted ties, used by three elements, which are mutual respect , development of bilateral relations in the political, economic and cultural fields, constructive cooperation in reciprocity in multilateralism.
The economies of Iran and Vietnam are complementary. As one of the countries with high economic growth, Vietnam has a high demand for energy and petrochemical products, while Iran is one of the major exporters of petroleum and petrochemical products with competitive prices. In the agricultural sector, while Vietnam can supply coffee, tea, and spices to the Iranian market, Iran can also export to the Vietnamese market agricultural products such as apples, kiwis, and cherries.

There is great potential for bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, tourism, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. In the coming time, the two countries need to step up trade and investment promotion activities, strengthen business connectivity, and accelerate the early negotiation and signing of a Preferential Trade Agreement.
In cultural exchange , with their artistry and storytelling ability, Iranian films have captivated Vietnamese audiences and are regularly invited to participate in international film festivals in Vietnam and win high awards.
Ambassador Ali Akbar Nazari that shares with cultural similarities, rich civilization with long historical roots, shared sentiment, and common destiny of two peoples, Iran - Vietnam have the potential to continue to develop.
