Vietnam Is Ready to Put Best Effort in Ensuring Global Food Security
Under the theme "The Global Food Crisis: What are the Most Impacted People and Communities Telling us at this Extraordinary Time? What are the Solutions?", Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai, Head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN), the World Trade Organization (WTO) and other international organizations in Geneva, said that Vietnam recognized the importance of humanitarian assistance and supports the role of relevant UN agencies in mobilizing and providing humanitarian assistance in the event of conflict, natural disasters and other emergencies, as well as in responding effectively to global food insecurity.

For example, Vietnam contributed financially to the COVAX mechanism, a mechanism for global access to the Covid-19 vaccine and worked together with the international community to fight against the global pandemic. In 2022, Vietnam also contributed to the UN Emergency Humanitarian Fund to support those in need.
The global food security crisis that is directly threatening the lives of hundreds of millions of people around the world. Vietnam shares concerns and is committed to joining the international community in addressing this global crisis by implementing a people-centered policy, focusing in ensuring national food security that can contribute to world food security.
In addressing the global challenge of food insecurity and preventing the risk of hunger, she believed it is necessary to promote multilateral cooperation and international solidarity to find a comprehensive, global solution.

Peace and stability are prerequisites for humanitarian assistance activities, emphasized the Vietnamese Ambassador. In addition, humanitarian assistance activities must be based on the principles of neutrality, fairness, independence, respect for the Charter of the UN, international humanitarian law. Humanitarian assistance activities must be suitable to specific conditions, circumstances and needs of each host country.
