Vietnam, Japan to Further Promote University Training for Information Technology
Speaking at the event, Prof. Furuta Motoo, President of VJU, said that the most important meaning of the memorandum of cooperation is to help promote the implementation of digital transformation, the application of information technology in teaching and other activities in VJU in particular and in Vietnam National University (VNU) in general.

The Principal of VJU affirmed that with this MoU, the newly-established undergraduate program of Bachelor of Science and Computer Engineering will gain much benefit, especially in automated translation/interpretation of foreign languages in Vietnam.
VJU students will have more opportunities to access smart and advanced initiatives from Japan. The two side agreed that the success of the cooperation program contributes to fostering the friendship between Japan and Vietnam.
There were more than 80 participants at the ceremony, including The Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam Yamada Takio, and Vice President of VNU Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Bao Son.

Following the ceremony, a seminar on automatic audio translation machine was held.
At the seminar, a representative of NICT, Dr. Sumita Eiichiro, presented on the topic of multilingual communication at NICT. He also introduced the researches on automatic audio translation for Vietnamese-Japanese.
In particular, Dr. Sumita Eiichiro presented the research results of the simultaneous translation automation project as a national project. Thanks to the translation laboratory at NICT, there is a translation bank as a multilingual data collection for conducting automatic mechanism and operation of the translation process.
From the Vietnamese side, Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh from the Vietnamese Speech and Language Processing Club also gave a presentation on how multilingual machine translation into Vietnamese and other languages.
