Official visit to Vietnam of Lao leaders

Permanent member of the Secretariat of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and Vice President of Laos Bounthong Chitmany and a high-ranking delegation are in Vietnam on an official visit to attend the celebration marking the 60th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and 45 years of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation, VNA reported.

The two sides' leaders affirmed that the solidarity, cooperation, and mutual support between Vietnam and Laos is an objective rule and a factor of vital significance to each Party and nation, a shared asset and a foundation for their development during future historical periods.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction and the Lao Ministry of Public Works and Transport signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on construction in Hanoi on July 13.

The document is expected to create a framework for specific, substantive and effective cooperation activities between the two ministries, with a focus on urban planning, smart urban development, infrastructure and housing.

Lao Minister Viengsavath Siphandone said he hopes the Vietnamese ministry will share experience in urban planning and smart urban development with the Lao side and help it develop high-quality human resources.

He proposed the two sides jointly survey and research the development of residential areas along the Truong Son mountain range - the natural borderline between the two countries - to attract investment, develop tourism, and improve the quality of life of local residents.

Greetings extended to Laos' missions on Friendship and Solidarity Year

Laying a wreath in memory of martyrs

The Border Guard Command of Quang Binh province and the Military Command and Public Security of Kham Muon Province (Laos) held a ceremony to offer incense, lay wreaths and pay tribute to heroes and martyrs at the memorial area dedicated to Cambodians and Vietnamese volunteers.

Between 1945-1975, over 500,000 Vietnamese soldiers and experts volunteered to help Laos in its national defence and construction. About 40,000 of them, including those from Quang Binh, laid down their lives during the period.
