At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien congratulated the Mexican Ambassador on receiving a new term in Vietnam. He hopes that the Ambassador will contribute to the cooperation between Vietnam and Mexico in all fields, in which economy, trade and investment are the pillars.

Regarding trade cooperation, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien appreciates the results achieved by the two countries, the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He also talked about the market attractiveness, the complementarity of the two economies as well as the opportunities that the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) brings to the economic-trade-investment relations between the two countries.

The two countries will continue to organize the exchange of delegations at all levels, focusing on strong products, in the context of the CPTPP. The two sides also focuses on activities to support the business community, strengthen cooperation and investment.

Minister Nguyen Hong Dien wished that in the "new normal", the two countries would strengthen cooperation towards rapid economic recovery and sustainable development.

The two sides focused on cooperation in a number of breakthrough industries, in line with international trends such as green technology, new energy use, digital economy with high technology, and e-commerce.

The Minister hoped that with Mexico being a leading industrialized country in the Americas, the two sides could consider cooperation in developing fundamental industries, such as materials, mechanics, electronics, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals.

Ambassador Alejandro Negrin Munoz expressed his delight at the positive results in the friendship, economic and trade cooperation between the two countries in recent years. He said Vietnam is one of Mexico's leading trading partners in the region.

The Ambassador also expressed his delight at the results cooperation achieved by the Vietnam-Mexico Joint Committee for economic, trade and investment held last year. He suggested that the two sides work together to organize the fourth meeting scheduled for 2023 in Mexico.

The Ambassador said that Mexican agencies have been and will coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and agencies of Vietnam. They cooperate in creating favorable conditions for the business communities of the two sides in investment and business.

Minister Nguyen Hong Dien thanked the Ambassador for his sharing and assessment about the relationship between the two countries in multilateral and bilateral frameworks.

The Minister said that the Ministry of Industry and Trade will work with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam. They will provide Mexico with necessary information about Vietnam's current regulations so that they can learn and soon agree on the necessary procedures for specific products.

At the meeting, Nguyen Hong Dien also expressed concern about Mexico's initiation of an investigation into the trade remedy case with Vietnamese exports. He asked Mexico to conduct a trade remedy investigation with Vietnamese steel products in an objective and fair manner, in accordance with the regulations of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The Minister said that in his new position, the Ambassador will strengthen bilateral cooperation activities in all fields, contribute to the relationship between the people of Vietnam and Mexico.

Vietnam is Mexico's eighth largest trading partner among Southeast Asian countries.

Mexico is Vietnam's fourth largest trading partner in the Americas (after the United States, Brazil and Canada) with total import and export turnover in 2021 reaching US$5.06 billion, up 37.5% compared to 2020.
