Amid the current regional and international context, Vietnam urges parties not to take any action to further complicate the situation in the East Sea, said Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang.
According to VNA, Hang made the statement at the ministry’s regular press conference on May 14 while answering reporters’ queries about the information that Chinese navy surveillance aircraft KJ-500 and KQ-200 appeared on Da Chu Thap (Fiery Cross Reef) in Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.
Regarding the information, she reiterated that Vietnam has sufficient historical evidence and legal basis to assert its sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa archipelagos in accordance with international law.
“All activities of the parties in these two archipelagos without the permission of Vietnam are null and void”, the spokeswoman affirmed.

Vietnam has ranked second worldwide and the first among Southeast Asian nations when it comes to citizens’ satisfaction with the government response to the COVID-19 pandemic, recent social research from Singapore-based Blackbox Research and Toluna Company showed.
The research was conducted among 23 countries and territories measuring satisfactory levels of people for their government's action against the pandemic.
About 94% of Vietnamese people felt that keeping the public informed on the pandemic with accurate information had worked in their favor in managing the disease, contributing to the country’s excellent performance in the fight against COVID-19, according to the study.
Viet Nam’s impressive score reflects the country’s swift and strict measures to clamp down on the spread of the virus, as well as its regular and transparent communication with the public on ongoing case investigations, said David Black, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Blackbox Research.

At least 10 people died and 15 others were injured after a wall at a South Korean firm’s construction site in Dong Nai Province collapsed Thursday, according to VnExpress.
The wall, five meters high and 100 meters long, collapsed at 3 p.m at the construction site of South Korean-run AV Healthcare, which specializes in producing tampons, diapers, and milk bottles, in the Giang Dien Industrial Park.
Dozens of workers were trapped. Some of the victims were quickly taken out of the rubble and rushed to the hospital.
VNA reported that Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has ordered prompt actions to deal with the consequences of an occupational accident in Giang Dien Industry Park.
He asked Dong Nai to swiftly carry out the search work, provide medical treatment for the injured, and take timely measures in support of the victims' families.
The Ministry of Public Security and the committee have been tasked with instructing competent forces to investigate the case and strictly handle violations in line with legal regulations and report the results to the PM.

Vietnam will not consider applications for new airlines as the country prioritizes the recovery of its aviation sector after the impact of the novel coronavirus, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) said on Wednesday.
“The government now has to focus on resuming domestic and international routes and supporting existing airlines, which have been hit hard by the outbreak,” the CAAV said in a statement.
Minister Nguyen Van The also said that the Ministry of Transport will propose to the Prime Minister in the immediate future, focusing on recovering the domestic and international air transport market, removing difficulties for Vietnamese airlines.
However, Minister Nguyen Van The said that the establishment of a new airline will be considered after the recovery of the aviation market. This decision is to ensure the management of airlines in Vietnam, and the stable development of the industry.

UK-based newspaper The Guardian has named Bo Mon preschool in Vietnam’s northern province of Son La in the list of top 10 new architecture projects globally.
According to Nhandan, Covering nearly 240 square meters in Tu Nang commune, Yen Chau district, the construction was hailed as “charming and deft and does what it says on the tin.”
The construction design of the preschool is a simple enough idea: a big distinctive roof that casts a particular shadow that moves around during the course of the day. So the shadow becomes an animated thing in its own right, not just an absence of sunlight.
“The curvy shapes might be said to have some harmony with the surrounding hills. A tree is hugged at the entrance. The corrugated metal construction is basic, with some sensible-looking devices to ensure ventilation,” the newspaper commented.
The construction was funded by charities and benefactors and designed by Kientruc O (O Architecture).
