Vietnam has been the largest trading partner of Guangxi (China) for the past 25 years, and the strategic building of the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future has given Guangxi an important mission, bringing new opportunities for the development of this province.
Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Lan Tianli commented that due to geographical and cultural proximity, the traditional friendship between Guangxi and Vietnam is increasingly strong, with close cooperation and exchange between the two sides.

According to Lan Tianli, in 2023, import and export between Guangxi and Vietnam reached nearly 254 billion yuan (about US$35 billion), an increase of 29.2% over the same period last year. In the first 5 months of this year, this figure was 120.82 billion yuan (US$16.6 billion), continuing to increase sharply by 36.8%.
He said that in the coming time, Guangxi will be developed into a convenient land for domestic and international circulation market business activities.
With the advantage of being the only Chinese province connected to ASEAN by both land and sea, as well as being the leading locality and gateway for cooperation with ASEAN, Guangxi will accelerate its connection with Vietnam both by rail and roads, deepen cross-border industrial cooperation, as well as enhance exchanges in many fields such as culture and tourism.

Currently, Guangxi has also planned 13 expressway routes to Vietnam, of which seven routes have been completed, and six routes are under construction.
He said that promoting standard railway connection across the border of the two countries, researching on standard railways such as Dong Dang-Hanoi, Mong Cai-Ha Long-Hai Phong at the appropriate time as in the joint statement between the two sides will further improve the level of infrastructure connection between Guangxi and Vietnam.
Lan Tianli said that in 2023, the import and export of intermediate goods between Guangxi and Vietnam grew rapidly, ranking first in China's total import and export turnover of goods.
In the first five months of this year, this number continued to increase by 46%. Therefore, Guangxi will attract and support more companies into industrial parks along the border and border gates such as Pingxiang and Dongxing. Guangxi relies on logistics channels and smart border gates between the two countries to create cross-border supply chains and industrial chains with complementary and mutually beneficial advantages.
Along with that, Guangxi is accelerating the construction of smart border gates in the Vietnam-China border area.
Once completed, the goods will be cleared through smart customs, without operators, without interruption. Goods from Nan Ninh to Hanoi will be delivered within 24 hours, and within 12 hours from Nan Ninh to four northern border provinces of Vietnam.
The leader of Guangxi province also said that a medical examination and treatment space in the border area has been established between the medical team of Guangxi and Vietnam. He affirmed that in the coming time, Guangxi will continue to enrich the foundation, ways of exchange, and cooperation with Vietnam, contributing to strengthening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China.
