Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria Nguyen Trung Kien recently visited the two states of Styria and Carinthia, worked with local authorities and businesses. The visit aims to promote bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, culture, education and research.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria Nguyen Trung Kien worked with Christopher Drexler, Styria State Government Minister in charge of Culture, Europe, Sports and Human Resources.

Ambassador Nguyen Trung Kien recently worked with Christopher Drexler, Styria State Government Minister responsible for Culture, Europe, Sport and Human Resources. At the meeting, Christopher Drexler introduced about the state of Styria and new cooperation directions with Vietnam.

The state of Styria is the second largest state in Austria, located in the southeast of the country with about 1.25 million people. The Styria state leads Austria in research and development. The ratio of research and development spending to the state's GDP is 4.88% (higher than the Austrian average of 3.2%).

This is the locality with the most innovative products and services. The state of Styria also has 2 UNESCO cultural heritages (Semmering railway and Graz old town) and UNESCO intangible cultural heritages (festival in Murau, Krampus play in Oblarn, Lipizzan horse breeding).

With these strengths, Christopher Drexler and Ambassador Nguyen Trung Kien agreed to focus on promoting cooperation between Vietnam and Styria in the fields of: economy, technology, education, research and culture.

The State Government of Styria is ready to create favorable conditions and coordinate with the Embassy in implementing activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Austria relations in 2022.

On the same day, the Ambassador worked with Robert Brugger, managing director of Styria's International Center (ICS). Robert Brugger announced his intention to send a local business delegation to Vietnam in the fourth quarter of this year.

The Ambassador welcomed the delegation and is ready to facilitate the procedures, and affirmed that the Embassy will coordinate with ICS to conduct preparations for the delegation.

Ambassador Nguyen Trung Kien also visited the town of Kapfenberg, Styria to visit the families of Johann Spreitzer and Marianne Spreitzer. Over the years, the Spreitzer family has carried out many charitable activities in Vietnam. For this meaningful contribution, the Ambassador went to the Spreitzer family's house and presented the Embassy's certificate of merit.

Ambassador Nguyen Trung Kien worked with a number of local businesses in the state of Styria. These businesses are interested in expanding cooperation with Vietnam in fields such as information technology, design and graphics, health care, and environment.

Austrian businesses welcomed the Vietnamese Government's decision to reopen and said they would soon come to Vietnam to work with partners and discuss details of new business projects.

The Ambassador supports the aspirations of Austrian businesses and is ready to create favorable conditions and introduce suitable Vietnamese partners to improve the efficiency of upcoming business trips to Vietnam.

After that, Ambassador Nguyen Trung Kien worked with Elke Kahr, mayor of Graz, Styria state. The two sides informed about the cooperation between Vietnam and Graz city, discussed cooperation directions in economy, research, training and culture.

The Ambassador suggested that Graz city consider expanding cooperation with Da Nang city. He proposed some ideas to expand cooperation between Vietnam National Academy of Music and University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.

Mayor Elke Kahr welcomes the above ideas to strengthen cooperation. Graz is also ready to coordinate with the Embassy and Vietnam to organize activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Austria relations in 2022.

The Ambassador also visited Tilly Holz, the world's largest natural wood paneling company, with a capacity of 10 million square meters of products/year. Since 1997, the Tilly company started buying forests in Austria to have a stable and sustainable source of raw materials.

Tilly is currently the company that owns the most forest land in Austria. The Ambassador and owner of Tilly company discussed business opportunities in Vietnam, including the possibility of participating in afforestation and technology transfer to Vietnamese partners.
