Cooperation between Vietnam and WEF is increasingly strengthened and deepened. Vietnam has repeatedly attended WEF Meetings in Davos (Switzerland) and regional WEF Meetings at the Government leadership level, thereby promoting practical and effective cooperation.
The two sides are actively implementing the Vietnam-WEF cooperation memorandum for the period 2023-2026, signed at the 14th Annual Meeting of Pioneers in Tianjin (China) in June 2023.
The Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership has maintained a positive development trend and gained many important achievements in recent times, especially the two historic visits of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to China (2022), and General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to Vietnam (2023), along with regular high-level exchanges, and contacts between the two sides.
The two countries' agreement to deepen and upgrade the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership framework and build a strategically significant Vietnam-China Future Shared Community has created a strong spillover effect, forming a vibrant, practical atmosphere of cooperation. Political trust between the two sides is enhanced.
Vietnam and China continue to be each other's leading economic partners, with trade turnover in the first four months of 2024 reaching US$59.7 billion, up 24.8% over the same period last year. Chinese direct investment in Vietnam increased sharply, with many large-scale projects.
With the theme "New Growth Horizons," the WEF Meeting in Dalian focuses on new areas and growth drivers, highlighting the role of emerging economies with great potential. The meeting was attended by more than 1,200 delegates, including nearly 100 Government leaders, high-ranking representatives of countries, leaders of international organizations, and businesses.
PM Chinh’s consecutive invitations to attend the meeting indicate the importance and appreciation of Vietnam's role and contributions to global and regional economic growth by the WEF, and the international business community.
Attending a prestigious event like the WEF Meeting in Dalian is an opportunity for Vietnam to share experiences, promote socio-economic achievements, and convey messages about Vietnam's priorities, and development orientation. Through the meeting, Vietnam also grasps new trends in the world economy, and exchanges development thinking and governance at the national and global levels.
The participation in the meeting by the Prime Minister and the Vietnamese delegation contributes to the partnership between Vietnam and the WEF, promoting cooperation with businesses that are members of the WEF in the fields of green transformation, digital transformation, energy, and science and technology. This is also an opportunity for Vietnam to increase exchanges and strengthen relations with other countries, partners, organizations, and the international business community.
PM Chinh will give a key-note speech at the opening plenary session and chair several sessions of discussion. He will participate in dialogues with major economic groups and innovative enterprises on cooperation opportunities, new solutions to global development issues, and Vietnam's economic development strategy. In addition, the Vietnamese cabinet leader will hold bilateral meetings with leaders of countries, international organizations, and major groups.
