Up to now, this is the best achievement of the Vietnamese delegation participating in the World Skills Competition. Before that, Vietnam once won a silver medal in 2019, also with CNC milling.

"As the World Skills Competition is still going on until the end of November, Vietnam still has many hopes of winning more medals, especially in the electrical installation profession," Truong said.

Eleven Vietnamese workers are participating in the competition 2022 Special Edition which is being held in Europe and East Asia from September 30 to November 28, according to the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training.

They compete in 10 out of 62 skill competitions, including Mechatronics, Cloud Computing, Information Network Cabling, Water Technology, Electrical Installations, CNC Milling, CNC Turning, Mechanical Engineering CAD, IT Software Solutions for Business, and Hairdressing. These competitions are held in six countries, namely Germany, France, Finland, Austria, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

The World Skills Competition is considered the largest playground on a global scale for students who specialize in vocational training. The prestige of the event is considered equivalent to the Olympic competition in science subjects such as math, physics, chemistry and biology. The contest is held every two years.

In the past two years, the 46th World Skills Competition exam has been delayed many times due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Finally, the organizers decided to organize a "special edition" for this 46th time, taking place in many countries in two months of October and November 2022.

This year’s competition attracts more than 1,000 competitors from 63 countries and territories in 62 occupations, alongside nearly 1,000 experts and 300 interpreters.

Vietnam first participated in the World Skills Competition in 2007. This is the eight time Vietnam has participated in the competition.

During the participation, the Vietnamese delegation received excellent vocational skills certificates. In Kazan (Republic of Tatarstan, Russia) in 2019, the Vietnamese delegation won the silver medal for the first time with CNC milling.
