Vietnamese 'Ao dai' Heritage Club Promotes Traditional Cultural Values in Belgium |
The ceremony was attended by the Vietnamese Ambassador to Hungary, Nguyen Thi Bich Thao; Kese Beatrix, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Hungarian Parliament; Dang Thi Bich Lien, Honorary President of the Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Club in Hungary and former Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam, President of the Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Club.
The event was also attended by representatives from Vietnamese associations in Hungary; and nearly 500 participants. These included members of the Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Clubs from 10 European countries and enthusiasts of the Ao Dai, many of whom were Hungarian.

Prior to the commencement of the ceremony, a minute of silence was observed by all present to honor the memory of those lost to Typhoon Yagi, in a shared moment of mourning with their fellow countrymen.
The ceremony commenced with a procession featuring women from the Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Club in Europe, representing over ten countries including Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Hungary, and others.
At the ceremony, the former Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Dang Thi Bich Lien, highlighted the historical importance and cultural value of the Ao Dai, a traditional garment that has become a symbol for Vietnamese people, especially women, across generations.
She expressed gratitude for the deep affection towards their homeland and the cherished Ao Dai by Vietnamese women overseas. She also shared her conviction that the founding of the Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Club in Europe would play a significant role in enhancing the visibility and appreciation of the Ao Dai's beauty among global audiences.

In her congratulatory message at the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Bich Thao conveyed her delight at the inauguration of the Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Club in Europe, with the picturesque city of Budapest hosting the club's launch. She regarded the club's establishment as a highly significant event, coinciding with the upcoming 75th anniversary of Vietnam establishing diplomatic ties with Hungary and several other European nations in 2025.
The Ambassador expresses hope that the Vietnamese Ao Dai Heritage Club in Europe will engage in more activities that promote Vietnamese culture, especially the Ao Dai, in the future. The Ambassador also assures that the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary will continue to support the Club's endeavors.

Kese Beatrix, the Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Hungarian Parliament, conveyed her affection for Vietnam, particularly the profound connection she felt while donning the Vietnamese Ao Dai during a ceremony. She said that her understanding of the history and evolution of the Ao Dai, Vietnam's national dress, had deepened significantly.
Representing the Hungarian Parliament, she pledged complete support for initiatives aimed at promoting the Ao Dai and Vietnamese culture among Hungarians and the global community.
The launch ceremony was made even more spectacular by a variety of unique performances, including the conical hat dance, fan dance, and calligraphy dance, all complemented by ao dai costumes.
These performances were delivered by nearly 100 members of the Vietnamese Ao Dai Heritage Club from various European countries, spanning multiple generations, and were met with immense admiration and lively applause from the audience. It also served as a powerful demonstration of the widespread love and pride for the ao dai among the overseas Vietnamese community.
During the ceremony, the Vietnamese Ao Dai Heritage Club in Europe was inaugurated, featuring an Executive Board of 25 members led by President Dr. Phan Bich Thien. Thien, on behalf of the Club, shared her elation over the establishment of the Vietnamese Ao Dai Heritage Club in Europe.
She described it as a significant step forward in motivating Vietnamese women across Europe to actively participate in preserving and promoting the beauty and cultural significance of the ao dai.
Numerous member clubs have recently been established in various countries including France, Belgium, and Sweden, with plans for further expansion across other European nations.
Dang Lan Huong, the Vice President of the Vietnamese Ao Dai Heritage Club in Europe and President of the club in Slovakia, stated that Slovak women hold a special fondness for the Ao Dai. They consistently engage in events that promote Vietnamese culture in Slovakia. The inauguration of the Vietnamese Ao Dai Heritage Club in Slovakia is scheduled to coincide with Vietnamese Women's Day on October 20.

In the afternoon, members of the Vietnamese Ao Dai Heritage Club from various European countries held a remarkable parade at Kossuth Lajos Square in front of the Hungarian Parliament. Adorned in vibrant and diverse Ao Dai, they sang Vietnamese songs, creating lasting impressions among Hungarians and international onlookers.
