Vietnam’s Embassy in Brazil and the United Kingdom on January 21st and 22nd held a traditional New Year celebration for Vietnamese people there.

(VNF) - Vietnam’s Embassy in Brazil and the United Kingdom on January 21st and 22nd held a traditional New Year celebration for Vietnamese people there.

On January 21st in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Vietnam’s Embassy in Brazil and the contact board of Vietnamese people in Brazil organised a ceremony to welcome the Year of the Rooster.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil, Do Ba Khoa briefed attendees on developments in Vietnam in 2016 and lauded the Vietnamese community’s contributions to Brazil’s socio-economic development and to boosting friendship between the two countries.

The Ambassador also noted participants on the success of the 12th National Party Congress and Vietnam’s achievements in socio-economic development, and the fruitful development of the Vietnam-Brazil relations.

In behalf of Vietnamese community there, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tung, professor from the University of São Paulo, expressed his joyfulness before the fruitful achievements in development of Vietnam, saying they always long for the homeland and will educate younger generations about their origins.

On January 22nd, a gathering celebrating Tet was organised at Vietnam’s Embassy in the UK, drawing nearly 400 Vietnamese from around the country.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Nguyen Van Thao highlighted the development of Vietnam-UK relations in the past year and lauded the Vietnamese community’s contributions.

According to Ambassador Thao, Vietnamese associations in the UK organised many positive activities to help people back home.

On the run-up to the New Year, Ambassador Thao wished Vietnamese people in the UK a New Year full of health and success and called on them to contribute more to the country’s development and the Vietnam-UK relationship.

At the event, expatiates had a chance to enjoy traditional foods of Vietnam./.
