Trade relations between the two countries have recorded positive developments when two-way trade turnover in 2022 reached USD 623.2 million; the first 8 months of 2023 reached USD 423 million, an increase of 4% compared to the same period in 2022. Portugal is currently researching to open a representative agency in Vietnam; Vietnam is planning to open an Embassy in Portugal to create a solid bridge for bilateral relations and facilitate information exchange and cooperation in many fields in the coming time.

In the parliamentary cooperation, NA Standing Vice Chairman Tran Thanh Man assessed that the two sides always promote the exchange of high-level delegations, aiming to consider establishing a Friendship Parliamentarians' Group to act as a bridge to strengthen cooperation between the two legislative bodies and the two countries Vietnam – Portugal.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, NA Standing Vice Chairman respectfully thanked the active participation as well as the material and spiritual contributions of the Vietnamese community in activities towards the homeland.

Man also hoped that the Vietnamese community in Portugal would always promote the spirit of solidarity and mutual support; comply with Portuguese laws, beautify the image of the country and Vietnamese people to local friends, and continue to contribute enthusiasm and intelligence to the country's development. Significantly, Vietnamese associations in Portugal need to promote their central role in building an increasingly stable and developed community, becoming a solid bridge for the friendship relations between the two countries.

Currently, the Politburo has issued Conclusion No. 12-KL/TW dated August 12, 2021, on overseas Vietnamese affairs in the new situation, which emphasizes the responsibilities of the Party and State to pay attention to the overseas Vietnamese, while continuing to encourage and create favorable conditions for compatriots toward the homeland.
