PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc meets with overseas Vietnamese in Norway

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his entourage met with overseas Vietnamese ex in Norway during his visit to the Embassy of Vietnam in Oslo on May 25 (local time) as part of his official trip to the country.

At the meeting, representing the Family Association (the Association specializes in organizing Vietnamese class for overseas Vietnamese children in Norway) expressed their wish that the State would have a policy to support learning Vietnamese such as opening a website, having guidelines for teaching Vietnamese so that parents can apply and teach their children.

Representatives of the Homeland Association (Association dedicated to helping the homeland) said that over the past 10 years, the Association has donated more than USD100,000 to help people in difficult circumstances, victims of floods and storms, building gratitude house. The Association wants the State to have policies to encourage overseas Vietnamese to contribute to the Fatherland, to have more open policies for people to visit their homeland or invest in Vietnam.

Besides, international students want the State to step up the reform and improve the quality of education in order to have more high-quality human resources to serve the country. The students are eager to bring advanced Norwegian technology to the country.

For his part, the Prime Minister stressed that the Party and State always listen to the people's aspirations and are very happy to see their feelings for their homeland and country.

Regarding teaching Vietnamese for the young generation in Norway and attracting overseas Vietnamese intellectuals to work in the country, the Prime Minister said that he would acquire and have timely support measures. In particular, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Education and Training to take practical measures, support the teaching and learning of Vietnamese language for young Vietnamese people abroad.

Welcoming young people to study artificial intelligence to contribute to the country, the Prime Minister said, the country is promoting the participation in the 4.0 industrial revolution. Therefore, the opportunity for students to study science and technology is huge.

The Prime Minister also informed them results of his talks and meetings with Norwegian leaders. At the meetings, the Norwegian leader highly appreciated the role of the Vietnamese community in Norway. The Prime Minister also suggested that the Norwegian Government continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live and integrate steadily, preserve the cultural identity of Vietnam, promote the role of bridging and promoting relations between the two countries.
