Vietnamese, Cuban Youth Continue Time-Honored Friendships

In Hanoi, the talk between Vietnam and Cuba Youth was held on December 7 with the theme "Vietnam-Cuba, the relationship of the times and the role of the Vietnamese-Cuban young generation" on the occasion of celebrating the 61st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2021).

The event is an opportunity for young people of the two countries to review the friendships between Vietnam and Cuba.

Speaking at the opening of the talk, Nguyen Pham Duy Trang, standing vice chairman of the Central Team Council said that the friendship between Vietnam and Cuba has been constantly being cultivated.

In of the worst months of Covid-19 pandemic, both countries looked out for each other. The image of a delegation of Cuban medical experts coming to Vietnam with the Covid-19 pandemic really touched the Vietnamese people. All levels, branches and localities of Vietnam have also donated thousands of tons of rice, corn seed, medical equipment, and other necessities to Cuba, helping Cuba to alleviate some of its difficulties.

Despite the geographical distance, the cooperation relationship between the young people of the two countries Vietnam-Cuba has continuously strengthened. In addition to the bilateral meetings and exchanges of friendship, the youth of the two countries have promoted the spirit of solidarity and supported each other at world youth forums. They continue to cultivate the tested friendships of Vietnam and Cuba.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the youth of the two countries have not been able to organize direct exchange activities for the past two years. However, they have had many flexible communication methods, adapted to the new situation, and received enthusiastic responses.

Nguyen Pham Duy Trang wants Vietnamese-Cuban youth to make good use of this opportunity to acquire information and knowledge; exchange and discuss the role of youth of the two countries, solutions to strengthen the youth cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba. At the same time, she hoped that they would contribute to deepening the relationship between the youth and people of the two countries, making the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba stronger following President Ho Chi Minh and former President Fidel Castro.

Besides the talk, the delegates, guests and youth representatives of the two countries visited the exhibition "Cuba under the eyes of Vietnamese children," a collection of unique paintings that won high prizes at the painting contest with the theme "Vietnam-Cuba love and solidarity," on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba (1960-2020).

Young people of the two countries had the opportunity to listen to the presentations of leaders and diplomats on practical and useful topics. Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén, Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam shared about Cuba's situation and Cuba's open door policy; Nguyen Viet Thao, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association talked about "Fidel Castro, an outstanding revolutionary leader, a great friend of the Vietnamese people."

The delegates discussed topics of mutual interest such as: preserving and promoting tradition, solidarity, and comprehensive strategic cooperation of Vietnam and Cuba; Cuba's open door policy; The story of the outstanding revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.

In addition, they also discussed youth cooperation between the two countries, the role of youth organizations in repelling the Covid-19 pandemic, enhancing reading culture exchange between children of the two countries.
