Vietnamese Delegation Provides Health Check-ups for Needy People in Savannakhet

About 30 officers, doctors, pharmacists of the Health Department, sponsors, and volunteers, led by Vu Thi Huynh Mai, head of the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs.

A delegation from the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs and the city’s Health Department on April 5 visited, provided health check-ups and medicines, and presented gifts to overseas Vietnamese and local residents living in difficult circumstances in Laos' Savannakhet province, VNA reported.

The activity was within the framework of the 4th Exhibition of HCM City and Friendship Provinces and Cities in Savannakhet in 2024.

Speaking at the event, Ha Phuoc Thang, deputy head of the HCM City delegation of National Assembly deputies, said that the activity contributes to strengthening the friendship between the Parties, States and people of the two countries.

It also showed the attention and support that HCM City’s leaders and people give to the disadvantaged Vietnamese people in Savannakhet province.

Consul General of Vietnam in Savannakhet Dang Thi Hai Tam sent her sincere thanks to the sponsor, Dai Viet College and the entire team of volunteer medical staff who have come a long way to provide support, helping Vietnamese and Laotians who are still facing difficulties in Savannakhet province.

Tam thanked the HCM City Committee for OV Affairs has chaired the program for many years, and together with Vietnamese diplomatic representative agencies in Laos, has carried out many other meaningful activities, making an important contribution to cultivating the friendship and connection between the two countries through practical actions.

As part of the delegation, young medical workers from major hospitals in the city delivered medical examinations and medicines, along with 500 gifts, 500 helmets, and milk worth a total of VND 385 million (USD 15,400).

On this occasion, the delegation also popularized information on Vietnam’s foreign policy, national unity policy, policies relating to overseas Vietnamese people, and the city's achievements in the past year.
