Ambassador Thang highlighted the special significance of this year, as the two countries celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 45th anniversary of the f Vietnam – Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.
He suggested that both sides come together to promote the tradition of co-operation, co-ordination, and mutual assistance between their representative agencies.
In this spirit, both countries agreed to launch a range of activities aimed at celebrating the Vietnam - Laos Year of Solidarity and Friendship 2022, focusing on information exchange and sharing, especially among young diplomats.
This will contribute to the Cooperation Agreement between the two foreign ministries for 2021 to 2025.
They consented to provide mutual support to fulfil all assigned tasks to serve the interests of each nation and the wider ASEAN community.
Earlier Ambassador Thang and his spouse, Ambassador Le Thi Hong Van, permanent representative of Vietnam to UNESCO, along with officials and staff of the Embassy and agencies, paid a Lunar New Year visit to Khuong Viet and Truc Lam pagodas in Paris.
Whilst at Truc Lam Pagoda, Ambassador Thang and Ambassador Van attended the New Year's Prayer Ceremony.
This custom has regularly been carried out by the pagoda over the years to wish Buddhist families a peaceful life in the new year.
