Vietnamese Military Teams Off to Int'l Army Games 2022 in Russia

A ceremony was held on August 3 to send off Vietnamese “Sniper Frontier” and “Emergency Area” teams to the International Amy Games 2022 that will be hosted by Russia.
On behalf of the teams, Lieutenant Colonel Dao Trong Vinh, Captain of the "Sniper Frontier", affirmed the determination to gain best results at this year's edition, the fifth year Vietnam has joined the Army Games.

Last year, Vietnam hosted the "Sniper Frontier" and "Emergency Area" competitions for the first time.
In the “Sniper Frontier” competition, eight teams from seven countries competed in four different stages. As a result, Vietnam won gold while Uzbekistan and Russia grabbed silver and bronze medals, respectively. Vietnam also brought home a silver in the "Emergency Area" contest, which saw six teams of five nations competing.
Preparation for the Army Games 2022
A teleconference was held on April 22 to discuss preparation for the Army Games 2022. The VPA’s delegation, headed by Major General Pham Van Ty, Deputy Chief of the Search and Rescue Department under the General Staff, joined the meeting. The event was also attended by the Russian defense attaché to Vietnam.
During the event, the VPA’s head informed delegates about its preparation for participating countries who will compete in the “Emergency Area” event, hosted by Vietnam this year. Meanwhile, he also announced that the VPA will join 14 events in the framework of this year’s Army Games.
Earlier, on April 15, during an online consultation meeting with Russia, Major General Do Dinh Thanh, Commander of the Armored Corps, urged the Russian side to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese Tank Contingent to arrive in Russia before the kick-off of the festival in order to practice and get familiar with the terrain, exchange experience, contributing to improving the results of the “Tank biathlon” contest during the Army Games 2022.

On July 28, Deputy Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet chaired the rehearsal of the performances to compete in the “Army of Culture” content of the International Army Games 2022 (Army Games 2022) in Russia in August.
At the event, the deputy chief of the General Department of Political Affairs assigned missions to the art troupe of the VPA to participate in the event.
This year, the Vietnamese art troupe comprises of 16 members selected from agencies and units in the whole military and will compete in “Artistic performance” and “Exhibition” events.
The team has prepared 12 instrumental, dancing and vocal performances to compete in the “Artistic performance” and 19 groups of artifacts, including four groups of historical items and 15 groups of handicraft products, to introduce at the “Exhibition” event.
Having been briefed on the team’s preparations, visited to-be-exhibited items, and watched performances, Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet praised the determination and efforts of members of the “Army of Culture” team in preparing and training for the upcoming event.
The deputy chief of the General Department of Political Affairs asked relevant agencies and units to foster cooperation to make thorough preparations to help the team obtain the highest possible results at the event.
He urged each member of the art troupe to promote the spirit of the army of a culture of the VPA during the competition, contributing to honoring and popularizing the beautiful virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers to international friends.
