At the meeting between Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue and General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith

The two sides agreed that Thongloun Sisoulith’s current visit to Vietnam vividly indicates the great friendship, special solidarity and all-around cooperation between the two nations.

It also signifies their close-knit, faithful and reliable ties. The visit is of great significanc as it takes place after the two countries successfully organised major political events such as the National Party Congresses and the elections of deputies to the legislatures and all-level People’s Councils.

Hue told his guest that the Vietnamese leaders and people always closely follow the situation in Laos, and Vietnam greatly valued the neighbouring country’s measures to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Vietnamese NA leader expressed his confidence that with international support and its efforts, Laos will soon bring the pandemic under control, and continue to carry out the resolution adopted at the 11th National Congress of the LPRP.

Hue briefed Thongloun Sisoulith on the recent online talks with his Lao counterpart, during which the two sides discussed a range measures to ramp up cooperation between the two countries and the legislative bodies, making it commensurate with the Vietnam - Laos great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.

Thongloun Sisoulith agreed on the need for the two law-making bodies to intensify high-level visits and meetings, and collaboration and exchange of experience, especially in institution building, law making, and supreme supervision over the operation of State agencies.

He said the new NA building of Laos, a valuable gift presented by Vietnam, has been put into operation to serve the first session of the 9th legislature, emphasizing that the Lao people are proud of the gift.

The Lao leader conveyed NA Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane's invitation to NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to visit Laos.

Hue accepted the invitation with pleasure, saying the visit will be made when conditions permit. The top Vietnamese legislator also extended his greetings to NA Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane and other Party and State leaders of Laos.
