Vietnamese NA official receives France’s National Order of the Legion of Honour

Nguyen Thuy Anh, member of the National Assembly Standing Committee and Chairwoman of the NA’s Committee of Social Affairs, was presented the French State’s National Order of the Legion of Honour, Class Knight, at a ceremony in Hanoi on March 22.

Authorised by the French President, French Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolas Warnery gave the noble order to Anh, who is also President of the Vietnam-France Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group and Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophone (APF)'s Vietnam Sub-Committee.

He said the awarding is the French State’s recognition and high evaluation of her contributions to deepening the friendship between France and Vietnam, as well as to developing the Francophone movement.

Expressing gratitude to the Republic of France, Chairwoman Nguyen Thuy Anh clearly stated, the Honour she received was not only a exclusively great honor for her, but also a common reward for all those who have been making a positive contribution to the Vietnam-France relationship; confirmed the important role and effectiveness of bilateral and multilateral parliamentary diplomacy

Attending and speaking at the ceremony, National AssemblyVice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong highly appreciated that the Republic of France awarded the France’s National Order of the Legion of Honour to Ms. Nguyen Thuy Anh.

The Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly said that this was a very significant recognition of Nguyen Thuy Anh's efforts together with members of the France-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group and the Vietnamese sub-committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophone in promoting and developing friendly relationship between two countries as well as participating in and organizing multilateral parliamentary activities.

According to her, this is the first time that a member of the Vietnam National Assembly has received this noble medal from France while working at a Vietnamese National Assemblys agent.
