Vietnamese scholar earned France's Legion of Honor

On the afternoon of April 2, Ambassador of the French Republic to Vietnam, Nicolas Warnery, awarded the merit.

Prof. Chau Van Minh has supported and promoted the development, cooperation, training, and transfer of a number of 21st-century key technologies between French research units and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. Since taking the role of Academy's President, he and his French partners have implemented nearly 200 cooperation projects, training hundreds of doctors and masters.

He also actively negotiated and developed a roadmap of cooperation for two projects supported by the French Government, which are the Vietnam Natural Resources, Environment & Disaster – monitoring Satellite-1 (VNRED-Sat1), and the University of Science and Technology Hanoi (usually called Vietnam - France University).

"This is not only a great honor and a noble reward for me but also a recognition to the contributions made by generations of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology staff in promoting long-term and sustainable cooperation projects with many research and higher education institutions in France, contributing to strengthening the strategic cooperation relations between Vietnam and France", Professor Chau Van Minh said after receiving the merit.

Professor, Academician Chau Van Minh is a 60-year-old scholar from Phu Vang district, Thua Thien Hue province. He used to work as the Director of the Institute of Natural Products Chemistry. Since February 2007, he was employed as the Vice President and then the President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. He is also a member of the Party Central Committee in the 11th, 12th, and 13th term.
