Although living and working abroad, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dai Trang, president of the Canada-ASEAN Association, York University (Toronto, Canada), always looks towards her homeland, especially spending a lot of time researching and writing books about Uncle Ho.
She has published many books about President Ho Chi Minh, which are appreciated by the Canadian people and the Vietnamese community.
Nguyen Dai Trang's first book about Uncle Ho with the title “Ho Chi Minh: Heart and Talent of a Patriot,” was published in May 2010 (in English and Vietnamese) on the 120th anniversary of his birth.
Three years later, she released a second book titled “Ho Chi Minh: Humanity and Development” in three languages Vietnamese, English and Spanish. The two books had a positive impact on the Canadian people and the overseas Vietnamese community about President Ho Chi Minh.

In 2018, her book "Ho Chi Minh - Selected works on peace, democracy and gender equality" was introduced, introducing 25 messages of President Ho Chi Minh to the US and other countries around the world from 1919-1969. In that book, there was a letter to the Prime Minister of Canada in 1966, 25 articles on gender equality.
"Out of 100 articles, only about a third of them are known to the world. With each section of 25 articles, it sheds light on Uncle Ho's humanity that many people do not know, leading to misunderstandings," she said.
Trang said she chose the themes of peace, democracy and gender equality for the book because they received great attention by President Ho when he was alive, and are still relevant today.
She believed that the book, which includes original documents from the Pentagon Papers announced by the US government in 2011, would help readers, especially foreigners, gain a more accurate insight into the late President’s personality and the legacy left by him.
Therefore, the fifth book titled “Ho Chi Minh: Black Race and Selected Works on Racism” was introduced in early February in 2021 in Canada. The book has attracted many foreign readers' attention and admiration for President Ho Chi Minh's vision, as well as Uncle Ho's role in the independence movement of African countries.
In 2020, on the occasion of Uncle Ho's 130th birthday, she released an e-book “Ho Chi Minh Songs”, which is translated into English, praising Ho Chi Minh, a pure soul, an ordinary but extraordinary person.
The e-book includes 25 songs, of which 5 are composed by Americans, British, Russians, Chileans, and Venezuelans.
After cases of discrimination against people of color in the world, she has re-read all of Uncle Ho's articles on Africa, including the book “Black Race” written by Uncle Ho in 1925. She was touched by his great thought and far-reaching vision, which are now still valid.

The virtual exhibition about President Ho Chi Minh is also a passionate work of Trang. The exhibition introduces images of Uncle Ho's monuments and memorials in more than 20 countries. This is an innovative product, contributing to the promotion of President Ho Chi Minh's legacy to international friends.
On the occasion of the 132th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890-2022), the Canada-Vietnam Friendship Association has coordinated with the Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association to organize an online seminar themed "Ho Chi Minh Complete Collection and Selected Works on Gender Equality". At the conference, Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada Pham Cao Phong affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh embodies the aspirations of countries in affirming their own identities. He is also a pioneer in promoting mutual understanding and friendship between nations. According to Ambassador Phong, realizing equality between men and women is President Ho Chi Minh's consistent thought, showing respect for women and aspiration for women's liberation in the Vietnamese revolutionary process. |
