Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea (RoK) agreed to deepen relations between political parties, legislatures, and young people of the two countries during their talks on the phone on July 15.
The leaders shared the view that the two countries should maintain exchanges and meetings in a flexible manner and expand their substantive cooperation across spheres. They also agreed that Vietnam and the RoK will step up collaboration in the Covid-19 combat and vaccine supply, according to VNA.
Trong highly appreciated the fact that the RoK considers Vietnam as a key partner in its New Southern Policy Plus, and suggested that the RoK continue to pay attention to and support the Vietnamese community in their host country.
Vietnam will continue to create favorable conditions for RoK businesses to expand their investment in the country, he assured President Moon.
According to VOV, Trong briefed Moon on Vietnam’s major developments and said it pursues the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development, as well as diversification and multilateralization of foreign relations, while proactively and actively integrating into the world. Vietnam is a reliable partner and an active and responsible member of the international community, he stressed.
For his part, Moon expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by Trong, Vietnam will contain the pandemic well and complete socio-economic development targets set at the 13th National Party Congress.
The RoK will continue to support and closely cooperate with Vietnam in the pandemic fight, he affirmed, noting his hope for stronger bilateral collaboration in economy, diplomacy, security, and national defense, so as to soon bring the two-way trade to USD 100 billion and elevate the bilateral ties to a new high.
The two leaders also compared notes on regional and international issues of shared concern.

On the same day, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc held a meeting in Hanoi with Yoon Sang Ho, Chairman of the Korean Association in Vietnam, and representatives of a number of large RoK corporations.
At the meeting, he applauded the Republic of Korea’s businesses in Vietnam for stopping the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in factories and business establishments and contributing millions of US dollars to the pandemic prevention and control work in Vietnam. The President said that when giving help to Vietnam, the RoK also helps its businesses in Vietnam maintain production and business. He committed to creating a favorable business environment for businesses, including those from the RoK, to develop.
RoK Ambassador to Vietnam Park Noh Wan highly appreciated Vietnam's success in both pandemic prevention and economic development. He said RoK businesses in Vietnam have always complied with regulations on Covid-19 prevention and control. As soon as Vietnam set up the Covid-19 vaccine fund, Korean businesses have actively contributed to the fund. The ambassador asked the Vietnamese side to help with the entry of RoK experts, adding that the two sides will work closely in purchasing or producing the Covid-19 vaccine to good effect.
President Phuc said he wishes RoK businesses and organizations will consider Vietnam a link of the global Covid-19 vaccine supply chain and pledged to ask relevant Vietnamese agencies to pay attention to the issue of Covid-19 vaccination for RoK citizens and the entry of RoK experts into Vietnam, VNA reported.
