Vietnam's Ambassador Attends Flag Raising Marking 55th Anniversary of ASEAN in the Netherlands

Vietnam's Ambassador to the Netherlands Pham Viet Anh along with all officers and employees of the embassy, representatives of the Vietnamese Association and the Vietnamese Student Association in the Netherlands, attended the ASEAN Flag Raising Ceremony on the occasion of the 55th Anniversary of the establishment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the Philippine Embassy in the host country.
This year, the Ambassadors of ASEAN countries in Belgium concurrently the Netherlands Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Singapore also attended. Attending the ceremony, in addition to the main guest, Karin Mössenlechner, Director General/Asia and Oceania, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, representatives of the ASEAN community, including businesses and students from ASEAN countries in the Netherlands.
Speaking at the ceremony, Philippine Ambassador to the Netherlands Jose Eduardo Malaya, rotating President of the ASEAN Committee in The Hague (ACTH), emphasized that 2022 is of great significance as it celebrates the 55th founding anniversary of ASEAN, marking the 45th anniversary of the establishment of relations between ASEAN and the EU - the two most prestigious regional organizations in Asia and Europe.
The fact that the two organizations ASEAN and the EU raised their relationship to a Strategic Partnership in December 2020 is a concrete demonstration of the increasingly comprehensive, dynamic and dynamic ASEAN-EU cooperation relationship, making positive contributions to peace, stability and prosperity of the two regions, as well as globally.
ASEAN in general and its member countries expect the EU's Cooperation Strategy in the Indo-Pacific to contribute to enhancing cooperation, especially in priority areas such as sustainable development, green transition, ocean governance, digital connectivity...
Mussenlecner affirmed that cooperation between ASEAN and the Netherlands and with the EU is developing positively. Recently, on the sidelines of the 55th ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, the Netherlands is one of six countries (including Denmark, Greece, the Netherlands, Oman, Qatar and the UAE) that have signed the document joining the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), raising this deal's membership to 49.
For the Netherlands, this is an important step in strengthening ties with ASEAN - a community that is becoming increasingly important in the region and around the world.
