Vietnam’s honorary consulate office in Japan’s Mie prefecture officially came into operation on April 9, with Moriyuki Taniguchi, a Japanese national, as its head.

Taniguchi was born in 1949 in Mie prefecture. After completing his master at Mie Chukyo University Institute, he was recruited by Kopia Co., Ltd. in 1971. Taniguchi moved to Aichi prefecture in 1977, and was elected a member of the Aichi Prefectural Council in 1983.

In 2011, he established the Japan-Vietnam association for friendship economic exchanges, acting as its president. In the last November, Taniguchi was appointed by Vietnam's Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son as Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Mie.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Vu Hong Nam expressed his hope that in his new position, Taniguchi will have meaningful activities to develop the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan. He will support Vietnamese people living, studying and working in the consular area under his charge, and local businesses when investing in Vietnam.

As the Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Mie, Taniguchi is committed to fulfilling the assigned tasks and contributing to the relationship between the two countries.

On the same day, the Honorary Consular Office of Vietnam in Mie held a seminar on the relationship between localities of Vietnam and Mie.
