Viettel joints Qorus Mobile Alliance

(VNF) - The Vietnam Military-run Telecommunications Group (Viettel) officially became the 10th member of Qorus Mobile Alliance on May 25th, shaping the biggest consortium of leading mobile operators from around the world.

Presently the alliance enjoys a combined customer base over 400 million mobile subscribers in its member markets.

By joining this organization, Viettel has expanded its international cooperation as well as gaining business experience from dynamic and experienced partners. It brings more benefits for Vietnamese customers both domestic and outside the boundary”, said Major General Le Dang Dung, Viettel Deputy General Director in a ceremony held in Hanoi.

This platform allows the mobile operators to collaborate on telecommunication and digital arena to enhance products and services provided to their consumers.

From now, Viettel is equal to other members of the Alliance in negotiation, and telecommunications services bidding worldwide.

Thanks to that, its customers are able to access international quality services like economy international calls, international money transfer, and special data packages while using roaming service.

Established in June 2014 Qorus Mobile Alliance, a consortium of leading mobile operators from around the world committed to developing a seamless customer experience across the combined footprint. Its predecessor is 'Asia Mobility Initiative' AMI-the first Mobile Alliance of Asia-was established on April 23rd, 2004, headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand.

Qorus Mobile Alliance is now located in Malaysia, including 11 members/nations: Smartone (Hong Kong-China), Smartone (Macau-China), Celcom (Malaysia), Idea (India), M1 (Singapore), XL (Indonesia), Smart (Cambodia), Sun (the Philippines), Dialog (Sri Lanka), Robi (Bangladesh) and Viettel (Vietnam).

Established in June 1989, Viettel is now the biggest telecommunications service provider in Vietnam in both subscribers and telecommunications infrastructure, doing business in 10 nations/territories with around 75 million subscribers./.
