The photo exhibition that features the development achievements of foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that are partners of Australia in Vietnam was held on November 9 at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology (Hanoi).

According to Nguyen Ngoc Hung, vice president of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), in recent years, Vietnam-Australia relations developed closely in many fields, especially people-to-people exchanges with contributions from foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Many organizations such as AOP, FHF, and Childfund have a history of nearly 30 years of operation in Vietnam with hundreds of projects, supporting more than 12.6 million people.

Starting from specific support such as medical equipment, facility renovation, and loan support, organizations gradually change their approach in each stage.

They focus more on capacity building, promote gender equality, support economic development, and collaborate with businesses to build sustainable models.

"As a standing agency of the Committee for Foreign Non-Governmental Organizations Affairs, VUFO is committed to working closely with the Australian Embassy in Vietnam in accompanying, orienting cooperation, supporting connections with sponsors and trusted partners, creating conditions for NGOs to operate more effectively," Hung said.

This is an activity in a series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia.

At the event, hundreds of photos were arranged in 11 thematic groups. Each photo captures memorable moments, important events, and project activities implemented by 19 NGOs from Australia in Vietnam.

There are topic groups such as protecting and supporting children, inclusive development for people with disabilities, developing sustainable livelihoods, empowering women and girls, and applying digital technology.

Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Andrew Goledzinowski said that Australian non-governmental organizations operate strongly in a number of areas such as child protection, gender, and improving women's economic capabilities.

Many organizations want to continue working in Vietnam, expanding in many fields such as climate change, energy transition, and sustainable development.

According to the Ambassador, organizations can only work when they have local partners. He hopes that the Vietnamese government as well as partners will coordinate so that the two sides will continue to implement more projects in the future.

The Embassy will support both financial resources and knowledge transfer through providing training courses, a team of experts and consultants to help organizations operate more smoothly and effectively.
