At the meeting, Ramla Khalidi stated: UNDP started partnership with Vietnam since 1978. For 46 years, UNDP has been privileged to support Vietnam through its journey of innovation and development, contributing to its emergence as a robust economy in Southeast Asia."

Along with Vietnam's development process, the UNDP has shifted its focus from primarily aiding in poverty reduction to embracing new initiatives like green and digital transformations, and environmental protection. Presently, the UNDP's primary activities in Vietnam encompass three main areas: addressing climate change, increasing resilience to natural disasters; fostering shared prosperity through economic transformation; and good governance.

Phan Anh Son, VUFO President, said: In 1986, with the initiation of the renovation policy, Vietnam's poverty rate stood at 57%. By 2023, the poverty rate had decreased to 4.3% according to the new multidimensional poverty line, a significant reduction achieved with the support of international and non-governmental organizations, including the UNDP.

Phan Anh Son notes that there is significant potential for collaboration between VUFO and UNDP in Vietnam. The two organizations have worked together effectively, notably in contributing to the development of Vietnam's Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Report, Cycle IV, about human rights protection. VUFO, along with the People's Aid Coordinating Committee (PACCOM - an agency under VUFO), is prepared to collaborate and assist UNDP in Vietnam with future projects and activities.
