The project aims to provide comprehensive interventions for children and young people with special circumstances in the districts of Can Tho city. This group includes at-risk groups, orphans, children with disabilities, HIV-infected and exposed children and adolescents. In addition, the project will also strengthen the capacity of local officials and teachers to carry out education and support for child care and protection.
The total capital of the project is VND329,160,000, equivalent to US$14,312. The implementation period is from October 2021 to June 2022, invested by Can Tho Union, implemented by Center for Disease Control in Can Tho, School children with disabilities in the city of Can Tho, and Future School.
Over the years, WWO has implemented many projects to support disadvantaged children and young people in Vietnam |
Le Thi Thanh Giang, president of Can Tho Union, said that the city has many social security policies and the attention of government leaders at all levels, but it has not yet supported all the children with special circumstances in the local.
In addition, the knowledge and skills of staff and teachers to approach and support special groups of children are still limited. From this situation, the project "Supporting children and adolescents with special circumstances in Can Tho city" is very necessary. The project contributes to creating favorable conditions for the group of children to benefit from better development conditions; staff and teachers are supported to perform well their tasks of caring and educating children in Can Tho.
The Worldwide Orphans (WWO) was founded in 1997 by Dr. Jane Aronson of New Jersey through programs in Europe, Africa, Asia and Haiti.
