Attending the closing session of the congress was Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, permanent member of the Secretariat, head of the Central Organization Commission of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Delivering the closing speech of the congress, Nguyen Dinh Khang, president of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor said “The Congress is honored to welcome General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong along with leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, international guests, departments, ministries, branches, unions, central agencies, and trade union officials of all periods. They came to attend the congress's activities, bringing to the congress great support and encouragement for the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union."

Nguyen Dinh Khang said that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong gave a directive speech, clearly affirming the position and role of the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union. He praised the great contributions of the team of workers, officials, labor and trade unions in the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland over the past 90 years, and in the 2018-2023 term.

At the Congress, the General Secretary emphasized the new requirements and tasks set for the working class and the Trade Union organization in the coming time. He mentioned the responsibilities of all levels, sectors and the entire society to care for, build and promote the role and mission of the Vietnamese working class, during the period of accelerated industrialization, modernization and international integration.

The Congress elected the 13th Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, consisting of 168 members. They are representatives with qualities, capacity, and dedication to the working class and the Trade Union organization to shoulder the responsibilities assigned by the Party, workers, officials, and labor.

The Congress expressed the determination of the Trade Union organization to successfully implement the goal of innovating trade union organization and operations, building a comprehensively strong Vietnam Trade Union, focusing on performing functions and tasks well, meeting the requirements of the new situation.

The focus is on representing, protecting the legal and legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers, participating in state and socio-economic management.

The goals include perfecting the organizational model, attracting and gathering a large number of workers to join the union, building a team of union officials with intelligence, bravery, enthusiasm, responsibility, and good working methods.

The union continues to innovate and strengthen advocacy works, improve the educational level, professional skills, labor discipline, and legal awareness of union members and workers, build a modern, strong working class, contribute to realizing the aspiration of developing a prosperous and happy country.

By the end of its term, the Trade Union aims to celebrate its 100th Anniversary. Vietnam Trade Union is comprehensively strong, a reliable support for workers, and a solid socio-political foundation of the Party and State.

“With the results achieved, I am pleased to report to the Party and State leaders and all union members, workers, officials and employees nationwide that the 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Union is a great success,” Nguyen Dinh Khang said.
