2020 Vietnamese Family Day marks the 20^th celebration of the occasion.

Vietnamese Family Day is not a public holiday in Vietnam, therefore, residents are not allowed to off from work and schools.

The observation of the Vietnamese Family Day this year, fortunately, falls on Sunday, offering families across the country a chance to reunite, throw a feast, and embrace the values of family bonds.

2020 Vietnamese Family Day celebration

This year, a host of activities are set to be held at the Vietnam Exhibition Centre for Culture and Arts in Hanoi within 3 days, June 26, 27, 28.

The festival is an annual event to mark the Vietnam Family Day on June 28 and promote the traditional values of Vietnamese families. This is also an occasion to remind everyone to reunite with family and treasure the precious moment spent with the loved ones, at the same time raise public awareness of the importance of observing the Party’s policies and the State’s laws on family in the modern society.

This year, the festival will focus on promoting good behaviors among family members. It will feature a wide range of activities, including exhibitions, seminars, conferences, health consultations, and cultural exchanges, according to VNS.

There will be a four-section exhibition on the family in the cultural tradition of Vietnamese ethnic communities, a photo exhibition promoting the role of women and mothers in families, and a book exhibition aiming to foster reading culture and develop connections among family members.

Along with the Vietnamese Family Day, Vietnam also joins other countries around the world celebrate the International Family Fay (May 15).

The International Family Day was founded by the United Nations in 1994. It is observed on May 15 every year to celebrate the importance of families, people, societies and cultures with a different family-focused theme each year. On this day, many public exhibitions and discussions are organized to deliberate on ideas about the theme of that year, as well as seminars held to elaborate on the family affecting policies. Families members across the world spend time together, whether going for outdoor activities or just staying inside their house and enjoying a warm family meal, according to Times and Dates.

This year, however, given the impact of COVID-19 and lockdown order, most of the celebrations are taken indoor or virtually.
