VNF - Vietnam – Laos youth friendship meeting 2017 kicked off on September 6 in Hanoi, with the participation of more than 500 outstanding young people of the two countries.

The event is a chance for Vietnamese and Lao youngsters to review the tradition of special fighting alliance between the two countries

Attending the opening ceremony were National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong; First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Le Quoc Phong; Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union Central Committee Sonthanu Thammavong; Chairman of Vietnam – Laos Friendship Associations Tran Van Tuy; representatives of the Vietnam Union Friendship Organizations and more than 500 outstanding young people of the two countries.

The Vietnam – Laos youth friendship meeting takes place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

Opening remarks, NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong said leaders of the two Parties and States have always paid special attention and created favorable conditions for the countries’ youths to streghen their exchanges.

The NA Vice Chairwoman hoped that young generations of the two countries would be always aware of their responsibility and mission to inherit the traditions of generations of their father. Youths of the two countries join hands together to build and develop Vietnam and Laos prosperous so that people of the two countries could have a happy life.

First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Le Quoc Phong said the Youth Unions of the two countries have made great efforts to implement many important and effective cooperation programs. The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union has completed impressively the cooperation agreement for 2012-2017 period.

Le Quoc Phong also said, the two Youth Union has agreed to continue signing a cooperation agreement for the 2017 -2022 period.

Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union Central Committee Sonthanu Thamavong affirmed the Vietnam – Laos relations are invaluable assets that have been well preserved by leaders as well as people of the two countries. The Laos Youth Union always pay great attention to educating young generations about the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

At the ceremony, the two Youth Unions signed the cooperation agreement for 2017-2022 period.
